Oh no! What to do? This is 3 times better than the SDM GC deal ($150 GC get 8000 points)...but oh the risk of buying GCs. Gotta stop by Target this weekend.

Ask the top person at your Target if it is Target gift cards only or will they allow nonTarget gift cards.
I looked at the cashier's screen as she totaled the order, and the prompt to give the Target gift card came up. The top Target guy was at her cash.
Cashier did not get my money until I got the gift card.
It's a YMMV.
Good luck!

I got $30 in iTunes cards and $20 for MacDonald and got the $10 GC card. Did not even had to ask for it. The cashier got prompted to give it to me. When I saw it was working I returned for a second $50 purchase and still received the $10 GC. Too bad they don't have a big assortment of GC to chose from.

It is totally NOT a YYMV thing, and I feel like the last thing I said was ignored lol. It will not apply to Target GC's and it will likely not apply to LCBO GC's as that may not even be LEGAL

I m suspecting it might a system glitch allowing purchase of GCs with the promo, lets just hope they don't cancel off the $10 GCs given with those purchases.....did those GC all have a unique pin # on them?

It definitely works with non-Target GCs (there may be some exclusions, like the LCBO gc mentioned). A supervisor tested it out in front of me and another supervisor at my request and to their surprise it did prompt for the GC. That's the good news
The not so good news - for me anyway - is my store doesn't seem to have any GCs I would really use. Going to add up the things on my shopping list and see if I'm close to $50
As far at what the fine print says re: no GCs, it's probably akin to the situation with SDM. They say GCs are not pointable, but the SDM ones do earn points and with Target, when they say GCs are excluded, they only mean Target GCs. SDM used to try to distinguish their GCs - I think they used to call them 'non-electronic GCs' in the fine print - and then after a while it seems they gave up.
Off to make my list and do some math - lol
Happy shopping!
