Anti Spam Legislation: Are we going to be in complaince?

I am getting so many emails now about the new anti spam legislation and am going to a workshop for non-profits on Wednesday about it. How does that affect the world on Smart Canucks? Does this affect the email notifications??? Just wondering what is going on here?

It's good - for those companies/organizations you want to keep receiving emails from, you need to confirm when they contact you. Otherwise, you'll be off their list.

I've already had quite a few emails asking my permission to keep sending me emails. I think I like this!

I like it too, just more to learn but that is okay too. I am just wondering how it affects SC, that is all!

SC only sends information you have requested when signing up or posting (email notification for posts/blog etc)
The ones that are reconfirming are ones where they may have used your data from your reward card, an online order or contest etc where you did not expressly give permission (or some didn't and they want to be sure)
It also applies to commercial messages, where SC is just letting you know that there are replies or new posts as requested

i got an email from SC to stay in touch but was unable to reach the page .....

i also wonder if the foreing sites also have to ask permission to send further emails.....i get so much emails from France about inurances, loi duffualt (spl), mortages, banking, sikicks (spl), etc....that i never ask for.....and didn't get emails to request my permision ....
