I received coupon this past Tuesday spend $75 and get $20 off.valid only June 24th.
I bought $100 Sdm gift cards and reached at cash register,I handed over the gift cards to the cashier along with that coupon,she scanned the coupon entered the pin code and it went through.
I then pointed at the coupon not valid on electronics gift cards,what does it means,cashier was surprised because mostly customers will not point out that then she smiled and answered they are most probably the visa or master gift cards or other store cards,the children's place,old navy,lcbo,Swiss chalet,Tim hortons etc etc,
Moreover she said if Sdm will give discount on those cards,Sdm will be in loss,but giving discount on Sdm gif cards Sdm is still in bussiness because people can only use those cards at Sdm.so I will say that if Sdm doesn't want to honour this coupon,they better update their system.
It was very nice conversation with that cashier,some cashier are very nice,love to talk and she was one of them.
Also thank you momi for teaching me and I love u for that.

Yeah you are right,sometimes it is miss or hit,specially with Sdm.
sdm is very strict in accepting coupons.
i am not a Sdm regular customer but I found this deal interesting and I thought I should give it a try.
cashier was about to finish my transaction and in the middle I stopped her because I thought May be she doesn't know,but then she said she is csm and they go by the system what system allows.
she told me few days ago a lady was new with optimum program she bought gift cards and then she wanted to redeem her points to pay off gift cards but system did not allow it.
it he location at I shopped,I was there first time and I think it's queen/Kennedy.

i did it because the store allowed it.and may be they mean non Sdm gift cards.
i do t want to report you,but it will be nice if you see it on positive aspect.

I see both sides to this. But the thing is if your buying SDM cards then they are not losing money. Its no different then spending 100 and saving the 20 in product. I think SDM cards should be allowed in these promos and redemptions. I don't have any negative things to say, again the cashier let it happen.

yes I admit I did it and I tried to stop the cashier and asked her in the middle and she said that is fine.
i think patty did not read my post carefully.
i know different people can experience different situations,specially with Sdm.
i heard some Sdm stores allows manufacturer coupons and Sdm personalized coupons together but some not,
I will say start another thread of Sdm,people experiences with coupons at Sdm.

Thank you sam786 for your post. You are very brave. I have noticed the nastiness of some posts on this site, not a great way to encourage people to post. SDM gift cards are treated differently, probably for the reasons you noted. You do not receive Optimum points on gift cards, but you do on SDM gift cards and perhaps by extension the reason your coupon can be used on the gift cards. Please, I am not looking to start or carry on a debate, just thought I'd mention something I hadn't previously seen stated.
