Canada Anti-Spam Law

I'm liking all the offers I'm getting from some companies when I opt in to continue receiving email from them. So far I've gotten:

Free half-moon cheesy bread from Pizza pizza
1000 points from Stouffers Lean Cuisine
$1 coupon from Marc Angelo

The only one I've come across is the Stouffers one.

Otherwise, I'm happy to not respond to the emails to get companies off my list.

Good for you! I haven't gotten squat from any of them. My email have been bombarded with anti spam law emails, I have been replying to op-in but lost track of it now. So I decided to just ignore them, if I need to I can always sign up again.

The only one I've received is the Marc Angelo and 1/2 price something at Milestones. Other places are offering contests or nothing. I am just not responding to a ton. Unsubscribing to everything was getting ridiculous.

Most of these i too have been opting out of. Most of the ones I get are from signing up for a freebie, or... so i figured if I get a deal or something I can always sign up again! I think the only good thing Ive got is the 1000pts lean cuisin too!

Just contests on the ones I have been getting. I am pretty happy though to be getting off a lot of these lists.

All the emails I received seems to be from legit businesses. What about those REAL spam emails like "Buy Viagra online" kind of email (eventhough I don't have a tralala), would this anti spam law protect me from such nuisance??

All I've received is the Lean Cuisine points. One or two companies entered me into a contest to re-enroll. But not much. I am very happy that I will stop receiving spam in a few days though. It's about time.

We had a guy explain this new law. Those "buy viagra online" spams are all based out of Canada so it would be impossible to fine them with breaking the law

I bet the perks for signing up in a few weeks will be greater than the perks for continuing to subscribe right now. Companies will be losing SO MANY subscribers because of this this new law. I'm willing to bet they will be jumping through hoops to get their subscriber numbers back up again and that sometimes mean sweet incentives.

If they email you without consent after July 1 they can get a big fine. They can only email you after if you have "done business" with them. "Done business" is still vague because the law is new.

It's hard for companies that don't give stuff away. I work at a non-profit and we don't have anything to offer for freebies. We're trying to hang on to those that we have but are worried we will lose a lot
