Nut free? What's the point?
lol, just kidding. It's about time Nature Valley made a nut free something that my kids can take to school. They don't have allergies but the school has the nut-free rule in place.

Thanks for the heads up! I totally didn't even notice them in the flyer. I'll have to check it out while shopping.

Are they nut free or peanut free? the one picture shows peanut free. Dh is allergic to tree nuts, and almost all granola bars have tree nuts (usually almonds or almond flour) in them, so would be great if there were some good nut free granola bars. Would be even better if there were some coupons for them (there is one for the PB Cheerios on websaver now).

Our grandson is allergic to all nuts, so this is great for other parents as well as his.
Thank you for pointing this out, Anna Michele!

Each school has its own rules. Ours is no nuts and peanuts. And I'm glad bout it. Many kids are allergic to both.

Yes we are not allowed no nuts of any kind actually a teacher justwent on mat leavethat was allergic to strawberries so we werent allowed strawberries either.
But my point was I had no idea that when it said peanut free that it could still be contaminated with other nuts. In the past if it had a peanut free symbol i bought it and sent it to school thinking it was safe.
Now I realize there is a difference and I will be sure to be more mindful when buying and sending snacks to schoolLast edited by Anna Michele; Fri, Jul 4th, 2014 at 08:35 AM.

You're right. Sadly the symbol is confusing. Especially for parent who aren't used to deal with food allergies.
