Thread: printed coupon question
-
Tue, Aug 5th, 2014, 11:40 AM #1
not sure where to post this but I have a question about printed coupons. I am thinking of getting a new printer that takes toner instead of ink as it is more cost efficient but wonder about companies only taking colour printed coupons. Has anyone had any issues with stores refusing bw coupons?

I can't think of any policies that say they have to be colour but you will have an easier time with the cashiers if they are (bc who will bother with colour copying for just a coupon)
As far as which stores, I find it depends more on location. The Rexall near me is coupon friendly, the one near work not so much.

I only use black and white coupons at Sdm and never got denied.
But I got denied using black and white coupons at Walmart and superstore even though those coupons have unique pin #,I kept waiting for almost 20 to 30 minutes at checkout cash register because the cashier kept saying those are photocopies and I tried to convince her that these are black and white and each coupon have unique pin #,she called the csm and csm said they only accept coloured printed coupons,I asked her but the policy states that they can be black and white!then she replied yes I understand that but for coupon acceptance,it totally depends on the store management discretion,we can refuse to accept any coupon where we have doubt if the coupon is not legit.this happened at Walmart.
So from that day I only print colour coupons and with colour coupons,I had never any issues.Last edited by momi; Tue, Aug 5th, 2014 at 10:14 PM.

I have yet experienced my coupons rejected because they're B/W in color. Although, there was one instance at Walmart that the cashier thought my coupons were photocopied. I had to explain that they have unique PINs and tell her that my colleagues helped me out in printing them.
It made me learn my lesson to choose a younger and friendly cashier.

I use b&w (we have laser printer, didn't spring for colour) and so far, no problems. I use mine mostly at SDM, RCSS, YIG, but have also used them at Walmart, Sobey's, Metro and Food Basics too, without problem. And Target too.

I always use black and white coupons, coupons from smartsource.ca they have a watermark so if you photocopy them the mark will disappear , this is the argument I use when I run into problems .
