On the topic of coconut oil, I do use that when I bake as well, however I have never had a recipe where a cup or 2 cups goes into one dish. That would not make sense with ANY oil. Most recipes or dishes are in tblsp amounts, or at the very most 1/4 cup. Even in that case you can cut the fat by using part unsweetened applesauce instead. There is usually a way around the fat, but the trouble is we have to MAKE the dishes at home to be sure of what goes into them.
Do you use half oil and half unsweetend applesauce in all your recipes?

I recently gave up sugar cold turkey in my tea but I think it is time to give up dry cereal cold turkey too to start with as soon as it is all eaten from my cupboards which should be soon.

Haven't eat sweetener or grains since 2005. Still alive. Meat, egg, limited dairy, low sugar veg and some berries. Nuts on occasion.

What cereal options do I have other than oatmeal which I love especially in the winter?

@walkonby i didnt read full thread yet, i will after i am done with my 2nd midterm. But let me tell(remind) you one thing. You recently bought cadbury chocolate bars when CO51 offered rebate on it and you ate 1 full bar...all by yourself.
    You can't live without sugar.

Sugar is everywhere! I am as sweet as sugar...can you stop talking to me?
@amira84 , I posted this thread in Aug of 2014 and I never said I could give it up, what I said was I have struggled with sugar and salt cravings and what I refer to as MY " addiction " to them for a while. I DID actually cut out sugar, salt, fat and gluten on at least 3 to 4 separate occasions ( diets, lifestyle changes ) over a stretch of about 4-5 months each time, AND I felt amazing each time I did this.

So I know for me this is what needs to be done if I want to change my health. Reading labels is painstakingly tedious and often it leaves me more confused about what these chemical sounding names actually are. The struggle ( well MY struggle ) continues. I posted the thread to show how this particular family had tried to eliminate it and shared their experiences, that is all.

Too tired from my insulin spiking to be motivated to quit sugar. Very interesting article on blood sugar & stress:http://cortisolconnection.com/ch6_2.php
