Short version....
Just got back from Canadian Tire (35 minutes away from our house) and DH purchased a new mig welder. Not a cheap piece of equipment. He unpacks his new toy and one of the regulators is broken off. The box was sealed and had not been opened and resealed. This was the only one in the store. He calls the 1-800 # and guess what? They cannot replace the broken part! They told us to go back to the store and exchange it. DH explained about living 35 minutes away, and she just said oh well. Nice....I think we will stop shopping there for tools of any kind. This thread is currently associated with: Canadian Tire, Guess

Try going through the actual company that makes the product...Its not up to Canadian Tire to replace the part. They are willing to take the item back for exchange or refund, I don't think that's a bad thing on Canadian Tires part??? Good luck

I would try calling the 1-800# again and ask to speak to a manager. That bites they won't replace the part. I hope it works out for you!

The 1-800 number can advise you to return it to the store but the store owner has the power to decide whether he will allow you to return it. Head office doesn't control individual stores. Found this out the hard way. I don't shop there, I shop where the return policies are guaranteed.

Update**** DH has repaired the brand new welder and is keeping it after extensive testing. I have let Canadian Tire head office know what we think about doing business this way. (Personally have no desire to shop for things like this again!)
