Eggs are not a good example. They're a good price at Shoppers.
How about Finish little box regular 16.99, on sale 10.99 yikes so even when on sale, I can't use the free rebate at Shoppers because it's so overpriced.

Oh my gosh.. That s a horrible price. But amazingly enough using my spreadsheet, under my current 18500 / 75 promotion Price check thingy My buy price works out to $10.52 before tax. I didn't realize some items were so far out of wack, but another good reason why I tend to only buy sale items, which usually are pretty good.

I have some data from my Optimum tracking spreadsheet:
I have been keeping track of my Shoppers transactions from Oct 2014 till now (March 2015).
Spent a total (incl tax) $472 out of pocket.
Overspent (items I could have bought cheaper elsewhere, but chose to buy them because of points) $16.
Mostly used 4000 points wus $20 on food, and points on milk coupons, odd ones here and there but no 20x points promos, largest single transaction is $35 and mostly food items and milk bought.
Total value of points accumulated during this time is about $95 (regular value, no special redemptions).
This works out to about 16% savings (95 - 16)/472.
Not earth shattering savings - that is approximately like getting HST back on my 472 that I spent. Granted, a bit more if we count the special redemption value of points, as opposed to regular value.Last edited by tobiwobi; Thu, Mar 26th, 2015 at 01:56 PM.

Yes I agree it was nice to see this bumped.
To be honest, I got so busy between work and Christmas shopping, and the holidays.. I stopped filling out my spreadsheet like I had been. But using the spreadsheet has taught me some pretty priceless lessons. From time to time I still punch in purchases to see how well i did. Like my recent purchases where I had earned in 3 consecutive $75 shops, 387, 391 & 379 points per dollar spent. It's like the VISA commericial... "Priceless"
Key enough with tooting my own horn.

I made a calculator that allows you to compare a product from sdm to another store and see if what you earn in points is worth what you save in dollars, it also allows for coupons. I think a lot of people will find this useful.
