Well July was a hottish month.
Always curious to compare tiered and TOU on such periods.
Just checked our Toronto hydro for July now that the billing cycle closed and once again tiered was better for us.
Hydro cost alone was 1.50 less than TOU. Not a huge difference but still showing we made the correct choice for us.
Comparing it daily in the period shows that we pay more on weekends when TOU is cheaper than tiered but on every weekday during the billing period tiered was less and sometimes by quite a bit.
So after two years we made the correct choice for us.

I check every day actually. My daily and monthly is almost always just a bit less on Tiered and I still get the pleasure of not worrying about when I use my electric devices. Every month I am about 1-4$ less than on TOU. Everyone is different of course.

Time of Use peak periods switch for Nov. 1 to Apr.30 for hydro users soon. Brace yourselves!
https://www.hydroone.com/rates-and-b...cing-and-costs
Starting in 2022, the OEB will set Regulated Price Plan (RPP) electricity prices annually on November 1. The past practice of setting prices twice a year has been discontinued. It’s important to note that seasonal changes related to Time-of-Use (TOU) periods and seasonal price thresholds for tiered pricing will continue."This is the Way." The Mandalorian

My hydro bill didn't agree with my calculations this month because of the annual January adjustment to regulatory charges. Didn't know this happened every January. This is the document that went under the radar, at least for me. https://www.rds.oeb.ca/CMWebDrawer/R.../File/document
Wholesale Market Service (WMS) rate went up by $0.0011 per kWh and Remote Electricity Rate Protection (RRRP) charge went up by $0.0002 per kWh for a total increase of $0.0013 per kWh. It's small but I wanted to make sure my utility was trying to skim a few dimes from everyone because of some billing glitch.
Reading that October rate announcement, I didn't realize the OEB tries to put positive spin on things. They point out the rate decrease but in smaller text describe the reduction in the Ontario Electricity Rebate as a change. You may think it's ok for the rebate to decrease when rates decrease, but the distribution charges aren't decreasing so that portion costs more when the rebate decreases.

Who in Ontario's cabinet thought this plan was a good idea?
Instead of paying the 7.4 cent per kWh under the current “time-of-use” pricing plan, the ultralow plan would charge the 2.4 cent rate. The tradeoff, however, would be paying 24 cents per kWh on weekdays from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. — up from 15.1 cents under time-of-use pricing plans.
What is this called in the Uber app usage? Surge pricing?"This is the Way." The Mandalorian
