it's getting worse....

A male former student at York University who worked for Jian Ghomeshi when Ghomeshi was student federation president alleges the disgraced CBC host “grabbed my genitals and fondled them.”
Jim Hounslow, now the e-learning specialist at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights in Winnipeg, said Ghomeshi’s sudden attack while they waited for an elevator was part of a pattern of conduct towards fellow students. Hounslow just happened to be male.
Hounslow said he and others at the campus viewed Ghomeshi as a “sexual predator.” He is not aware of other men who were victims. He did not file a complaint.

I have not read back in here, so do not know if anyone else saw this footage done years ago of him insulting the very fans that would pay to come see him and the band perform? He was always an ego to be reckoned with I guess. ugh. what a jerk.

It is men like this that help perpetuate the idea that violence against women is okay.

do you think this would have happened pre-ghomeshi?

Two Liberal MPs kicked out of caucus amid allegations of misconduct
Two Liberal MPs have been kicked out of their party’s caucus amid accusations of personal misconduct made by two female members of the NDP.
A source familiar with the matter identified the former Liberals as Quebec MP Massimo Pacetti and Scott Andrews, the member for Avalon in Newfoundland and Labrador and the party’s ethics critic.
Liberal whip Judy Foote wrote to Commons Speaker Andrew Scheer today to say she has looked into the allegations and that the two former Liberals are denying the claims.
Valerie Dufour, the NDP’s deputy director of strategic communications, confirmed that the complainants are New Democrats.
Foote said she discussed the matter with the two women on Oct. 30, but her letter did not provide details of the allegations.
Andrews, 39, was first elected as in 2008 and re-elected in 2011. As an MP, he has served on a number of committees, including fisheries, veterans affairs and natural resources.
He most recently served as the Liberal critic for access to information, privacy and ethics.
Pacetti, 52, is a veteran MP who was first elected to the Commons in a byelection in May 2002 in the Montreal riding of Saint-Leonard-Saint-Michel. He was re-elected in 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2011.
He has served on a number of Commons committees in his career, including a stint as chairman of the finance committee. Within the caucus, he was critic for amateur sport and small business and Quebec caucus chairman.
Foote said there is a process for handling allegations of workplace misconduct involving employees, but she knows of no precedent for dealing with complaints among MPs.
“I believe a process that continues to deal with these allegations in a serious manner will require the involvement of a neutral third party trusted by all concerned,” Foote wrote in her letter.
She asked Scheer to establish a process for dealing with such cases in the future.

My comment is not about Ghomeshi specifically. Many women don't report abuse because they fear blame, shame or further violence upon them. I can attest to this. When you're told day in and day out that you will be beaten or killed, if you tell, you believe it will happen. Luckily I'm out of my situation. If you manage to say something, and experience judge or blame, it can make the victim feel like garbage. Too many women are beaten or killed everyday. And yes men experience abuse too. More publicity and education is needed.

warning as usual, this is a very long post,
important to me
many many years ago, starting in about 1942, my mom and her older sister
were sexually abused by their dad, and later on so was my older cousin.
(lucky me with my memory of awful things, not remembering them
think it did not happen to me)
other relatives refuse to think anything happened.
i know my mom and aunt and cousin would not say that it had if it hadn't,
and my poor cousin still lives knowing that happened to her.
can't imagine why my nanny didn't know, and if she did,,,
of course this was years before anyone would have said
anything to the powers that be.
bad lead into, saying that lucy decoutere, (the woman who first
came forward) was contacted
by a woman who was assaulted, many years ago, and received
a mail (i think) from the guy who did it.
from what i remember, he apologized, and this stands out,
he offered if she wanted to press charges, he would NOT
argue the case.
how surprising, who would think anyone
would offer to go to prison, years later, well at any time?

i'm not sure how the law can change about such assaults, as when time goes by
there is likely no evidence, but hopefully as this sort of abuse is gaining such national
attention, someone with more brains has the answer.
only the people attacked, know how hard it is to come forward,
because of how the law thought then and, the generation, and
therefore what would happen in court, disgusting.
would have hoped that changed, but since i can't remember any case
lately that involved sexual assault,,,and we know this still happens,
and now sheila copps,,,,
reminds me of this video, which i think some of seen before but geee
i think this behaviour starts somewhere, whether here or earlier
