I am currently using Money 2006 (ya, I know it's really ancient!) and am looking for a more updated software to maintain my finances. I like alot of features that Microsoft Money has, such as graphing, reports, comparison reports, portfolio keeping, planning, and budgeting/forecasting. So, I am looking something that has similar features. Anybody using a software that they find useful? Let me know. I like to hear your reviews on your personal finance software. Thanks!

I don't use any - but I hear YNAB (You Need a Budget) is very popular.

We track our spending on Quicken-a friend told me the other day he is using the free Mint.com which sends him a message if he is overspending in one category.

I use Excel - I tried mint.com however they do not support Synergy Credit union so I was having to manually add in the information for that account anyways. Also i Found mint takes 3-4 days to update things like payments or larger deposits. . Excel I go home plunk everything the same day and I know exactly what i have all the time.

I signed up for Mint but you need to give them way more info than I was comfortable with, like banking passwords. We now use YNAB. I like it but would never pay full price for it, we had a discount code so it was like 10.00 I am still trying to figure some stuff out, but since we never had a budget before YNAB it's just interesting to see how we spend. There is a thread on YNAB in the fiancé section.
Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

I use YNAB (You Need a Budget) and i love it. I can access it from anywhere as I keep the relevant files in dropbox. When I was looking for finance software I short listed it to YNAB and MINT. I eliminated MINT because although it interfaces directly with your bank accounts, it asks you for your banking card and passwords to do so. I wasn't going to hand those over because if any fraud occurred on my account as a result of me giving the software my passwords, i wouldn't be covered (I checked with my bank!).

Having spent many years in the public accounting and software industries, I am very hesitant to store this type of data on anything but my home computer. No cloud storage for me thank you. There are a lot of good free replacements for Money. Try:
1) Gnucash - double entry and can be used for small business. Full featured
2) Homebank - nice and simple no stock tracking
3) Money Manager EX - nice and simple no stock trading
4) Scrooge
5) Grisbi
6) KDE MyMoney
There are more as well.Robert Ganzhorn, Mortgage Agent, FSCO#11129

I created a pretty in-depth excel spreadsheet for myself! It took a while to set up, and I still tweak it every now and then to adjust as I learn A) what I'm actually spending money on (since I stopped looking for a while and have started back up again) and B) new ways to maximize excel's usefulness.
I also created a round-up sheet so I can see how much I spent in each category at a glance, by month, as well as my monthly income, and averages.
I would be happy to share the blank version I've created for 2016 with anyone who is interested, and can even help update (or update for you) the categories based on what you need. I don't have graphs in it, but they would be pretty simple to add once you have data.
