I did that the night before.... I had a Coupon that was only good on friday for 20x points.. so it's better to get 170 dollars off and get points on the remainder then to get 210 dollars off and no points.

Are you earning points on your credit cards too? As much as aeroplan sucks with their fuel surcharge (those can be avoided if you redeem for United flights), one can accumulate a goodish amount of travel rewards in fairly short order...especially with all that SDM shopping. My family of 4 did Australia/Maui 3 years ago, and last fall hubby and I alone flew in and out of Brussels, then entire family did Costa Rica at Christmas. I already booked flights to LA for March break with my daughter as well as BC for hubby alone. Now that you have mastered Optimum.....
