The Grinch wasn't originally green and Dr. Seuss fought for the character to be black and white. Green may have been chosen as it reminded the animator of ugly rental cars.
In Dr. Seuss' original book, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Grinch was black and white with shades of red.
Chuck Jones, the "Looney Toons" animator who also directed the Grinch movie, is the one who made the character green. Jones and Seuss argued over the color with the original author wanting the character to retain the black, white and red, while Jones insisted the Grinch needed to be more colorful for television.

CBS executives originally hated "A Charlie Brown Christmas" and almost didn't release the special at all.
"They thought it was too slow," executive producer Lee Mendelson recalled of his meetings with CBS. They didn't like that real children voiced the characters. They didn't like that religion was a theme of the Christmas special. They simply just weren't going to air the special.

"Christmas with a Twist-mas"
Yes, that was the name of the Christmas concert at a school in Regina yesterday... but it ended up being quite the twist...
Christmas concert fight ends with assault charge
Santa may have a new name for his naughty list after an altercation at a Regina elementary school Tuesday night.
Police were called to Arcola Community School's Christmas concert after a fight broke out — and now one person has been charged with assault.
What police called a "scuffle" involving two women who are related to each other happened just before 7:30 p.m. CST at the school at 2315 Abbott Rd.
As the concert was wrapping up, an argument started between the two women — and then turned violent, police said. One woman allegedly assaulted the other.
Police arrived and following an investigation, they arrested a 29-year-old Regina woman without incident.
Some people at the concert went on social media to express their disappointment with what happened.
"Ruined the kids concert," one concert-goer said on Facebook. "My son was embarrassed. We left just as police swarmed the school. Brought down the joy the kids were feeling."
According to the school's Twitter feed, the show was called "Christmas with a Twist-mas".
Police said the incident resulted in the alleged victim suffering minor injuries.
The other woman ended up being charged with common assault and is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 22.

Christmas is not a time nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.
