Although I overspent on the grocery budget this month which I guess is not too bad as I underspent the previous two months.

Income tax refund went straight into savings this year which usually doesn't happen.

I have also been putting an extra $100.00 or more onto our mortgage monthly since January.

Money from sales of no longer used items has been going straight into the bank to add an extra buffer to the bank account.
So happy for you @mac 1960 you've made so much progress in leaps and bounds and should be so proud of yourselves, keep up the great work and can't wait to hear about your financial progress along the way

Our youngest will be moving into his new to him room this evening, so pleased as we did the work ourselves and used monies from items sold and or items needed were budgeted for....So 1 more room to strike off the list of rooms to do (lol). Tomorrow dh & I sit down and do our budget for the month of April but it's looking promising with monies leftover and going to allotted accounts.

Thanks. I haven't made any progress so to speak getting DH to switch to PC banking but I finally did get him to agree to drop the overdraft on our main bank account which is a small savings of $4.00 a month so $48.00 a year.
If worst comes to worse we will have the LOC to fall back on and it has a zero balance.

Payday tomorrow so did the budget clean up today. Both CC have credits on them! Yeah! Moved forward $146.48 for groceries and $36.73 for gas (car). Had $75 for fun money that I took to casino and left with $205.00 so that will be awesome for a Spring pedicure etc Getting taxes done today so will plan stuff for $ (and savings)

Wow that sounds like a lot of money just to be able to hunt-but of course I know absolutely nothing about hunting and costs at all so don't mind me! I guess though it does work out well in the end when you can eat the meat and it is also a recreational activity for your DH at the same time. Like you say though it is a big expense all at once which makes it hard to balance the budget.

That's a lot to dish out but I am sure it is worth it in the long run for your family.

Union Gas equal billing has just dropped from $53.00 to $19.00 to balance out the year until July. (first year in new house) We will either get a rebate or owe a little but next year hopefully it is cheaper. Guess we will find out in August. I plan on putting the difference on our mortgage.

Sending DH to Rona today or tomorrow to get the plywood for the garage as it is 15% off. We have budgeted for this already as we have been waiting for a sale.

Cleaned out the garage on the weekend and finally decided to part with some big items so will be happy to see them sold and gone! Being clean and organized is so financially smart! Now to get on the basement! Not sure when I'm going to get back there

Great savings on the plywood, it's great when we can wait for the sales and save $ it all adds up.

Great plan about putting the extra on your mortgage.

@Frugalbigmama you are absolutely right about being clean and organize is financially smart, it's an awesome feeling knowing what you have and what you don't need and let's not forget the doubles because we didn't know where the original item was (lol)

Our union gas equal billing dropped from $123 to $57. Ours would never drop to $19 as our monthly fee alone is $25. You are lucky!

My income will significantly drop come May so I will have to completely overhaul the budget. We're going into the bank tomorrow to renew our mortgage. Our mortgage rate is 5.324% so I am looking forward to getting a much lower interest rate! DH still wants to try and put some of the LOC into the mortgage. I really do not think it is a good idea especially considering I'm losing most of my income. I'd rather have the lower mortgage payment and pay interest only on the LOC (if need be) until we get through this tough time.
