I had a coupon, from a previous purchase at Sears, for $200 off when you spend $400.. I never needed to spend that much and the coupon was expiring yesterday Dec.31, 2014, so off I go to try and spend money...I decide I'm going to buy a lawnmower..yes, a lawnmower...I saw one a few weeks before a Honda one it said $499 on sale for $399 less my $200 I would pay $199!!!of course that one is gone and they have no more..let me first mention that I had two of the best sales associates you can ever want they spent hours with me, yes, hours..first I explained that I had this coupon and I wanted to use it for the best possible deal..they checked every lawnmower on the system all were either discontinued, out of stock or not available...I guess no one buys lawn mowers in the winter!! One of the sales associates went down to the warehouse and said there were 2 down there one smaller one and a bigger one, the big one was reg.$450 on clearance for $226, it was a fantastic deal, it had all the bells and whistles...but now I still have to spend $174 dollars to get me to $400..and I didn't want to just buy something. My mom was with me and she said she would like a comforter, we go to the comforters all are on sale $99.00 or 30% off..I go back to my guys and they say it's reg price $179.00 even though I will be getting 50% off I still felt that was expensive,I was talking with other associates, managers finally one says you can have it for $99.00 since I was buying a lawnmower!! the good thing was I got a fantastic deal, the bad news was I had to shop some more to get to the $400!!! Off we go to spend $74, by this time my husband has joined us, he thinks the lawnmower is fantastic...now I just want to get out of the store,,we buy slippers, leather gloves and a shirt for my husband..we bring it all back to the cash everything came to $401.before taxes I believe it was something like $452-$200-$100gc-$50(money from points from Sears card)=$2.00 out of pocket for all this!!!

Wow...that's some extreme savings!!! I could not spend hours in a store, though. I would have grabbed anything after the lawnmower to bring it up to $400. Good for you. Your patience got you the best deals!!!

Wow, what a nice brag about Sears and what a awesome coupon you had. That coupon was great for you. Good for you for being patiente and founding some excellent deals. I too need a comforter, I will take a look at Sears. I never shop there and maybe this time I will find what I like. Thank you for sharing and I wish you and your family a Happy New Year.........

i don't usually spend hours, and I was about to just grab something but the frugal, savings person in me just wouldn't let me do it..my mom who is 78 was going to pay the full price for the comforter $179.99 less the 50%, I just couldn't do it..so when I spoke to,the manger and said you can have it for $99.00 less 50% = $50.00 is way better than $100!!! It was worth the time and effort!!

Those sound like amazing employees. You did the right thing persisting since you were buying the lawnmower anyway, everything else was free (due to coupon)

Just checked the receipt..I don't know how they calculated my purchase,,I was doing everything by memory before, the sales associate deducted my $200 coupon before taxes so he only charged me taxes on $201.91 instead of $401.91!! I only paid $77.29 for everything!! Next time I buy anything I'm going to the snowblower dept ha,ha,ha!!
