I am losing the battle against dog hair and am considering a Roomba. But I am leery because of the price. Does anyone own one of these and how well do they work. Are they worth the price? Any help would be appreciated!!

We have a Neato. From what DH told me, Roomba will just bounce against the wall in any direction and will miss spots. Neato will scan the whole room first and clean in a uniform way, like in straight lines back and forth. When it's done, or needs recharging, it finds its way back to the docking station.
It's convenient especially under the beds and other furnitures. We usually put it on when we leave after we've put the chairs up and removed the rugs, and when we come back, the floor is clean. Helps when you have kids or pets. My son always leaves crumbs on the floor. But once a while we have to vacuum the corners and other places where it cannot go.

Honestly, although that unfortunate incident did happen to that guy, why would he post a video of it?? It is no ones fault, well maybe it is his fault for not walking the dog before he left for work, OR he could have placed the dog in his crate if he is a dog that soils the floors while the owner is away?? I could almost smell it through the computer screen!! lol
Oh and if you DO find out info about the Roomba wolfwoman I'll be watching, I have always wanted to try one.
We have all hardwood floors and i like to walk around barefoot. Roomba was great, i loved it, i didn't have all kinds of crud stuck to my feet - until Roomba came to untimely death. Battery would no longer hold a charge. I was VERY disappointed after spending this much, that I'd have to buy a new battery in only a year or so (I forget exactly how long it lasted, but not long enough). If you buy one, get it at Costco so if (when?)it dies you can exchange it with no hassle. Maybe these issues have been resolved, been a couple years since i bought mine.
Oh, and the video - didn't watch, but l have a friend this happened to. She has dogs and had it set to go when she wasn't home. I never set mine that way.
this might help, wolfie:

I've been considering it too. But I'm afraid it'll suck up all the kids legos and junk on the floors too.
Going to come back to this thread. I may have something to add to my wishlist for christmas/birthday for 2015! I think I'd be more willing to go with Neato though.
