Walmart FREE WiFi SSID = WMGuest

Did you notice Walmart is now starting to offer FREE wifi rather than relying on MacDonald's free wifi?

The SSID name is WMguest and the signals are excellent. Over a period of 2 months, I noticed many of the Walmart stores I visit have WMguest available. These include: Agincourt, Pickering, Eglinton@Warden, Brampton (2).

There has been no national announcement in either the flyer or press releases. I assume they are waiting till all stores have been upgraded with wifi prior to a national launch. I'm enjoying the free service. I can now upload my rebate receipts ASAP prior to leaving the store so I'm not missing out on rebates (Snap.Groupon, CheckOu51..).

I thought I would pass along this info to other who can benefit.

viruses, trojans and malware
Just make sure you have virus protection and a firewall
Even use the free virus protection that you can download, like avg.com (just one of many)

That's the reason I distrust using free public WiFi. But then again I rarely use my 1G/month data plan that using tht instead isn't a problem.

I have been using WM's WiFi in Calgary for awhile now to price match. Very nice to have.

My local WM has had WM wifi for quite a while, like others I try not to use public wifi, I have unlimited data though

I also noticed that several Wal-Mart locations in Halifax, NS have free Wi-Fi.....I wonder if that's because people keep complaining they couldn't get a steady cellular signal within the stores.

That was one of my issues shopping in Target, certain points of the store have no signal and they didn't have wifi - a pain if you are checking a price and have to walk to the food section for data

I don't get this. How can free wifi infect your devices?? You either get the internet or don't.
