finally - although with a too close of a vote
gay marriage is now allowed in the usa,
as well as 20ish more countries.
taken way too long, especially when one thinks
of those who couldn't visit (or put on their medical)
their loved ones when they were in hospital,
as the 'family' and the law wouldn't allow
the one who was in love with them to.
of course reagan would never say a word
about aids, or allow medical help.
anyway, sort of old news now, sort of,,
some states will still be nasty
ie as i heard a gay now married couple say, 'you could
be married on saturday and fired on monday'
and that could still happen
however this law was passed on the pride weekend
here in toronto, so personally as a kiddo a long time
ago when pride day was a few hundred people
protesting the bath raids, i am very happy.
hence i talk too muchThis thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by madchives; Sat, Jun 27th, 2015 at 08:20 AM. Reason: WTF, WHY DOES SC HAVE SO MANY SPACES ADDED IN MY POSTS? HUH?

just cause i always mention this whenever
pride day is here,
long long time ago, i was involved in the then gay protests,
when it was just a few hundred, hard to imagine now.
was working at canada post at the time and the march was
running late, whilst walking by the cop shop,
i found a phone and called in to say i wouldn't be able to
be at work, felt sick.
the supervisior i had a crush on was of course the one
who answered - 'ok have fun'
(not removing the extra spaces in the posts, if sc wants
to waste space,, so be it)

I will never understand the argument that people are losing their rights over this? What is it, the right to be a sanctimonious bigot and oppress others you deem lesser than yourself? If so, I shall play for them, an ever so mournful song on my tiny violin.
But only if I can get a coupon in exchange for my time lol.
Or the argument that it shouldn't be up to the SCOTUS and should be left up to individual States to decide. Well, I disagree with that wholeheartedly. They proved in the US case, Lovings vs. Virginia, that the States won't always do what's right and needed SCOTUS to decide whether it was okay or not for people to marry other races. More recently, they proved that with the pro-discrimination laws against Gays in Indiana and the practice of demanding to see Mexican's citizenship papers in Arizona.
I am glad the decision was made by SCOTUS. All I can say is about time.Get your F-R-E-E gift cards just by browsing online with Swagbucks. Click here to register now!

I Was Told My Lesbian Mother Is A 'Deviant.' Today Is For Both Of Us
I Was Told My Lesbian Mother Is A 'Deviant.' Today Is Fo...It turns out that I am a deviant, too. I am such a deviant that we have a baby girl. And today, as the Supreme Court rules that every American is entitled to marry ... View on www.huffingtonpost... Preview by Yahoo
how cruel that woman was.
although some republicans and others are going to disagree with the ruling,
and have constitutional, religious, etc blah blah blah reasons
that marriage is only a straight person's folly, (couldn't resist)
it is very hard to repress people, especially after the fact.
terrific post frugallegemom
