I had a surgery on my foot yesterday to take out an osteochondroma (a bone tumour) that had regrown after my last surgery in 2012.

It involves: removal of nail, cutting off of tumour, and scraping off residual cells that could cause regrowth.

I did not want to be put under for this surgery, as I didn't in the last one. There were multiple needles involved, and even with the needles....I was not entirely numb when the surgeon began the excision. That was a disaster, but quickly fixed with more anaesthesia.

Today: high impact pain medication, and even through it: pretty intense throbbing pain.

    Jeez...this sucks.

You brave person to have round two of the surgery! Give your foot some moisturizer to keep it hydrated through the ouch/recovery period-even if it's just tapping some cream on the skin.

Try for distracting thoughts when you feel like leaping out of yourself in frustration due to the pain. It might take some of the hurt away momentarily. Do you have any nutritional guidance for foods to eat for recovery? Vitamin C for healing?

Unfortunately I cannot do the moisturizing as of yet. The entire toenail was removed, and left a nice, open area that is covered with gauze and wrapping. I take vit C every day, and multivit. and eat fruits and veggies! (y)

I wish you a speedy recovery & perfect health the rest of your life.

Just a note from someone with lots of 'war wounds', once the bandages are off, put Vitamin E on the scar tissue to help it heal. Get the Vit E that comes in little gel capsules (they last longer and work better than the creams). Poke a hole with a needle in a capsule and squeeze out the contents onto the scar (you don't even have to touch the ouchie). Vit E is great for healing scars and helping them fade.

Keep calm and rest well for a while. Like Andit mention wen the time comes put some vitamin E and I too buy the capsule one as it is cheaper that way. I always believe in vitamin E. I also use it around my eyes. Well, I know any surgery is no fun but you will be back on you feet soon. Take care................

I've had a few operations in the last 6 years. 2 c-sections, a mole removed between two toes, and in one operation 4 teeth removed (3 pulled+ 1 wisdom tooth that had to be "dug" out of the gum.) since I've either been pregnant or nursing during that time I was very limited to the pain meds I was able to use.while the recovery was painful each time I don't think I was in as much pain as you claim to be... If the pain meds you were given aren't worming properly (because you are still in constant pain) you should talk to your doctor. It might help to switch meds.

Both c-sections it was a combination of Tylenol and Advil and I was fine as long as I wasn't moving (coughing and sneezing were brutally painful.)
the mole removed and the tooth removal I was prescribed the good Tylenol with the codein at a Lower dose (1 pill at a time instead of 2) because I was nursing but since he was past 1 the doctors said it was safe to take.

if I could make it through all that with minimal pain meds you should not be in intense throbbing pain with heavy duty pain meds.

I hope you don't think I was being judgmental. I was only trying to say that it sounds like the pain meds you are using aren't working properly. I know people react differently to different medications and was only trying to suggest getting your doctor to try you on some other medication that might work better for you. I threw in my own personal experiences as an example not to be mean or judgmental.

Thank you for clarifying. I (probably many others too) have an issue deciphering tone from type.
