Hi all! I'm officially new to the forums, but have been using the site for coupons and deals for about a year now. I love that my extended family also benefits as I have often called my sister or mother in law with deals, coupons and other benefits! Glad to officially be a part of the smartcanucks community!

My name is Ann and I live on a 3 acre wooded lot in beautiful Lancaster Heights, Ontario with my hubby, my Dad and my 3 cats.
I'm new to SmartCanucks (actually stumbled upon it today) but I love the idea.

Does anyone have experience with Virgin mobile?

I bought a virgin phone and $20/month plan on October 10th, phone purchase included $50 worth of minutes.
Virgin then commenced debiting my credit card at an alarming rate:

October 30 28.25
November 3 22.60
November 12 22.60
November 26 22.60
December 5 22.60
December 7 22.60

I called them and they explained the charges like this:

Someone is texting your phone and each time they text it costs $2.00.
I demanded that they stop giving MY money to this 'someone' and they said that I should reply 'Stop' to the next text. That did work by the way.
They claimed that they had nothing to do with giving 'someone' $2.00 for each incoming text but they did know how to stop it?

So I paid out $141.25 + my $50 purchase bonus for 2 months of a $20/month plan.

Anyone else have a tale to tell????

These texts are usually contests or games. My daughter signed up for one -- the first one by just clicking yes or answering it. It took a month or two to figure out what she was being charged for.

Virgin will email you a detailed list of charges if you phone them so that can help track annoying things down.

No - didn't get it back. It's from a third party. I think she may have texted a code to them at first - don't really know. Chalked it up to learning but it was frustrating.
