Another SDM Bites The Dust

Goderich, ON SDM will officially close the doors on May 23, 2015 of this year. Apparently according to the news it was a tough decision. 23 employees will be without jobs as of then. What a shame as they had really nice staff working there.

To me it doesn't really seem that long ago they had their grand opening. (7 years ago approximately) I used to have the option of 4 SDM stores to shop in depending on what direction we were going although 2 are in the same town.

Guess I know for sure what town I will now be doing most of my shopping in from now on and it seems to be it that it won't be Goderich, ON.

O man that is terrible. I hope loblaws is not planning on closing more. I can understand one or two that maybe dont hit said profit margin. You can take my target but dont take my SDM.

I would not survive without my SDM..Luckily we have 3 in my city, so I think I will be OK. Feel bad for those employees

I have friends who live in Port Hope and they closed that one down a month ago and now put in a Pharmasave.

I had no idea SDM stores have been closing down. Wow

Part of the acquisition of SDM by Loblaws required the closure of several SDM stores.

Their will now be a pharmacy across the road from SDM in Zehr's taking over prescriptions.

Our shoppers closed in January.not doing so well on points now.hate not having a shoppers close by

Given the Loblaws news about updating/expanding 50 stores, I'm anticipating that any reno at Fortino's Ancaster (based on info I heard last summer) will mean bye-bye SDM across the road. It never did get its food area upgrade last year after the Loblaws acqusition of SDM was made public.
