We just got a call. The recording said we won 999 West Jet air miles.
Then after some music, a guy comes on and asks who he is speaking too.

we asked, Who's the offer from?
Guess he didn't have his info in front of him and started to become flustered.
We kept asing Who's this offer from?
Then he put us on hold and tried to ask someone else something
    He finally hung up.

Called Westjet and they said it's a scam.
    On their website it says
    Phone scam alert

Telephone scammers are impersonating WestJet in an attempt to steal your personal information. WestJet does not use telemarketers or share guests' personal information. If you receive a call indicating that you've won "WestJet points/miles" or are a "preferred customer" please contact the RCMP Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or visit their website. You are welcome.
The Westjet guy was not surprised.
I guess this goes on a lot.

May be going on in other parts of the country too.

Shwa Girl, it's definitely going on all over the country - I've read of it elsewhere, too.

    Jerks!

Thanks for the update. I am really curious how they knew that we had used West Jet in the past. Just a coincidence?

This reminds me of the call I got from 403-366-3666. The caller said I won 500 air miles from West Jet and he needed to my credit card number to verify my identity. Lol! Obviously, the call was a scam. But I'm concerned that someone might fall for this scam so beware of this caller.

I also did a phone number search at Callercenter.com and as I expected, more than 20 complaints came up. They were posted by others who received calls, too and you'd be surprised to know what the scammers said to the recipients to make them hand over their money and bank info. Very deceiving.
