It's never too early - we do usually BBQ in the winter, too - just haven't this year.
Is using 'grilling' an Eastern term, as well as US? We don't use it here in the west, we BBQ. (and yes, I do know the real meaning of both words, I think we just use them differently than the strict definitions)
Husband and I used to take turns doing it, now I usually leave it to him and I handle the sides. Son has learned well, too, so he's very capable.
Memories of growing up with BBQing - my Dad proudly handled doing it - I remember when we just had a little hibachi, then a charcoal grill, then finally a propane BBQ.
He really was in his element doing it (he didn't do any other cooking) - and that was one of the times when he was totally relaxed, fun, and laughing as we would all gather for meals.
He was a serious suit and tie man, worked really hard during the week, so it was nice to see him relax.

We bbq year around, although not anywhere near as often in the Winter (kind of a pain to connect the propane and stand out in the cold).
I can always tell when it's officially Spring because birds start trying to make a nest in our BBQ. lol. I have to remember to keep the cover on and to put up my fake owl. It's already started so I guess it really is Spring!
We've bbq'd 3-4 times in the past week because it's been so nice. I usually leave most of the BBQ'ing to DH simply because he really enjoys it.

We bbq'd in the winter years ago when the BBQ was off our patio doors, but in the backyard now, it's just not as convenient. Haven't so far this year, no big hurry....we do love our BBQ homemade (is there any other kind?!) burgers, sausages from the butcher, and oh, yes....med-rare steaks, lol...but unlike other years, I'm not quite as anxious this year...

We BBQ all year round, but not very often. Husband prefers charcoal and I do like the taste better, but I like propane myself because of the speed. My favourite is rotisserie chicken or kebabs.

I cannot wait for BBQ season soo looking forward to it!!! My memories are of my Dad always setting up the charcoal BBQ with those white cubes (don't remember what they are called) but it would get the charcoal going. I use to love when i was in my younger years that we would go to Niagara Falls and he would bring the little BBQ and we would have a BBQ picnic there...awesome memories

Love BBQ! We have a propane BBQ and use it all year round. DH is the grill master. He often likes a 'snack' later at night, so we have been known to start the BBQ at 9/10pm to cook up a snack. Everything tastes better on the BBQ.

We barbeque from April- October usually. MY DH usually does the grilling while I make the side dishes. Looks like we will be having a BBQ in the snow this year.

I barbeque year round. A few years ago I barbequed when it was -30 C outside. Ran in and out quickly lol. My favorite items are hamburgers, steak, chicken, potatoes and veggies.
