I am using my personalized coupons for the very first time, even though I have been receiving them since day 1.

I have a very basic questions, but I haven't been following the SDM threads lately, and haven't been shopping much at SDM lately either.

I have a BP coupon for if I spend $30 on anything.
I want to buy a Neutragena item, and pay for it using an FPC for a replacement item. code 2002

Will I get the BP, even though the total on my bill would be zero because I have paid using my manufacturer's coupon?

The cashier and manager insisted that I will not get BP's. when using my man. coupon to pay.

    Help!

If you are using an FPC, no, you won't get the points. FPCs that are properly coded in as 2002 lead to the amount of the purchase being deducted from the base points, so no bonus points get attached.

$off manu coupons do count towards the total, and the bonus points will be added. Many cashiers, and even some managers, will tell you that the $off coupons don't count. But the system recognizes the amount, and gives you the points.

If I have $off manu coupons and a get x points wus $ coupon, I tend to give them the get x wus $ coupon first, so that the cashier puts the code in. After that, I give the $off manu coupons. This way, the system decides if the points are to be applied, not the human. I have accidentally had a product that didn't match the description of the SDM coupon, and the system has rejected the coupon. The system will even tell the cashier which coupon isn't valid if more thanone SDM coupon is used.

If you have $off SDM coupons, those do not count towards your total for bp, as they are coded differently, and they reduce the price of the item in the system.

No, not really. When fpcs are entered as 2002 you don't pay tax, which is how it should be with an FPC.

The tax issue, yes, I understand code 2002

but not counting the value of an FPC for a BP coupon? Outrageous!! lol

So has anyone actually had it work, or does it totally not work for the situation I stated in the first post?

I don't think they are screwing with customers. Some managers and cashiers (employees) are just not trained in how the program works. Should they know how the system works? absolutely yes, but not everyone is computer literate and they can't know everything. There is such high turnover at Shoppers and it is only a retail store and they are not paid a lot. Not intentional on their part.

I was just curious. If you have an issue with the call centre/customer service. Will they let you speak with a manager or someone higher above to get better customer service?

Oh, I dont mind if the cashiers are misinformed... I just ignore them and get them to scan my optimum card.

What I was wonderng was if the system allows the points to be awarded in my case or not. If they are not awarded, then yes SDM is screwing customers.

If you have a personal coupon for 8000 pts wus $30 food, and you use FPC for any or all of the $30 worth, you will get the points. I have done this and have received the points.

Anne gave the correct answer. That is the concrete correct answer. No cashier errors, or compromising the program asking them to enter a free product under the cpn code, or them taking heat for an error. Free products FPC ,do not count towards your dollar amount. Manufacturers dollar amount coupons, just look at them as cash legal tender, and they do.

Rayray, I know what SDM says, and it is wrong legally. Manuf. coups are a method of payment, under fed law. I trying to get feedback on ppl's personal experience. I would never ask a cashier to fudge something for me, but thanks for assuming the worst.
