I grew up not liking pickles or squash. Still won't eat squash but am a fan of pickles.
Nowadays, I think the foods I try and stay away from are the overly processed ones.

Never had kasha with gravy. My parents and some siblings would eat it with milk, like a cereal, but I didn't like that.
My fave way then - and still now - is mixed with fried up bacon pieces, and sweet pickles, lots of s+p.... droool.... I haven't had any for a while!
OP, today the media kept talking about sugar and what has sugar in it. They were saying sugar was the new tobacco and that there is a plot to kill us with sugar.:omg:

Our son is the pickiest eater, thanks to my mother...now our 10yr old daughter will try anything. Earlier this year she decided she wanted to try cow tongue (gag) so her and hubby bought and cooked the ugly thing. She googles all sorts of weird foods to try, and lo and behold usually tries them.
