Recurring Styes?
Hi all:
I seem to be getting what I believe to be styes on my eyelids, several a month. It's not a HUGE deal, hurts a bit and makes my eyelid puffy until it goes away. Can occur either on my upper or lower lids.
My question is, why is this happening? I've Googled of course, found there's products for this, but why is it happening in the first place? Anyone have any experience? I don't wear makeup so it can't be that.
Thanks in advance!

Oy, you are getting them a lot - I may get one every two years or so, always on a lower eyelid, right eye. I went through one about a month ago.
Since you've researched, you know what causes them - but since you are getting them with such frequency, I would investigate further with your doctor or dermatologist - there are other conditions which can cause stys.

Zonny, as kids, whenever one of us or our friends had one, my Mom would mix up a weak, baking soda and water solution in a shot glass and would have us place it over our eye and tip back and blink into it...it relieved the itch and puffiness and doing it several times, the condition subsided. Hope it helps, and ita...see a doc if it's occurring that frequently.

There's a trick in getting rid of them and preventing future ones: always wash your eyes with hot water, not boiling, not warm, just at a temperature where it won't burn your eyes or your hands.
If you already have them around your eye area, soak wash cloth in hot water, rub it over your stye(s), press over it until cloth becomes warm. Soak wash cloth in hot water again, repeat rubbing and pressing for a good 5 minutes. Do this for a week, your styes will go away. For future prevention, AlWAYS wash your eyes with hot water.
