Evening all,
I chanced it this am and put the clothes on the clothesline, I took them down just before it rained, they were a little damp so put them in the dryer for 20 minutes in the end I used the dryer but haven't done laundry since last Thursday so we really needed to wash some clothes. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny so I will wash another load and hang outside .
Dh needed some medication from shoppers so I used my coupon spend $50 get 8k points not great but better than base points as we needed milk and some other items and using the coupon gave me much better points than just getting base point SO when these points are awarded I will officially have enough for 2 large redemptions which I am saving for Christmas etc not bad considering I have only started using the 20x etc points since January....yippee. On a dissapointing note dh lost his sdm optimum card, I don't have the whole # only part from an old receipt and will fill out the information for a replacement card & ask that points from his lost card be transferred if there are any points left.
Popped into Independent to purchase some fruits & veggies and use some of my pc point offers not bad 6000pts and $49 spent so pretty good in my opinion.
Wishing everyone a wonderful evening2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

QOTD: Do you always carry around a small amount of cash in this electronic age to save on bank fees or debit charges in some places? That unexpected coffee?
We use credit card for everything. Pay off the monthly balance for no interest and points. When DH does a car job and is paid cash I deposit the money on our spreadsheet as though it is in the bank, but keep it in an envelope with our finances. We use this instead of the bank machine when we need cash. Both DH and I will spend cash if it is in our wallets so this helps us not have unplanned purchases. When we are tempted and don't have the cash, we resist. When we are tempted and are going to buy anyway, CC. This means McDonald's gets DH's business over Tim's."There are more important things--friendship and bravery...."

I hear you bobbiegirl I feel rich at the beginning of the month as I get paid my sickness pensions once a month but I tell you come week 3 my grocery budget is quite sickly and I'm really scrounging and avoiding looking at the flyers.
And then I sit back and think most of our suppers are $5 or under so in essense $150 for suppers geez so where does the other $450 go on breakfast, lunches and everything else.....well I will admit my grocery budget does cover more than just groceries - IT does include hygiene, dog food and pharmacy expenses (pills, etc) BUt it has been such an eye opener to think that I'm broke per say come the 3rd week....gah and my suppers are under $52019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

I am struggling to keep our groceries below 500.00 but we still have a full freezer so if I could resist the deals I could do it. Last month I took advantage of the Sobeys gift card offer, I bought 300.00 worth of GC that are good at Freschco and Sobeys as well as food land. While I never shop at foodland it's always in the small towns when we are camping, the gift cards earned 400 airmiles from a promo. So 40.00 at metro. Needless to say last months grocery budget was high.

We never use a bank machine that is not our banks, I refuse to pay fees, we have two choices of banks to use so it's never an issue and this rule has worked for us when we had a debit card compromised to the tune of 1000. It was the cash withdrawal made at a non Td account that the fraud department caught. I also have a serious coffee addiction, but have rules in place to control it. I load a fixed amount of money on my Starbucks app and I will only do the fancy smanchy drink when it's free. I don't do tims now and will buy a 10.00 mc Donald's every few months , that way I get the credit card points, I can easily track it and I only buy coffee on the days I am working in the city. If I drove to the office my traveller mug is my coffee for the day. But again this month Panera fed my coffee addiction and so I am getting free coffee for June. Sadly I don't have one close to my TO office but I drive by one the other days.

Hi folks! I haven`t been around for a few days - I had some eye problems that I was worried about and made it tough for me to see to read or type. BUT everything is clearing up, thank goodness. I have been and will have to take eyedrops for another few days to deal with a `bubble`` that formed on my retina and pressure was building up in my eyes. A laser dose helped with that. whew!
DH has osteoporosis and I think he broke his wrist again the other day. He claims that wearing the brace that he got when he broke it the last time will "fix" things - no need for an x-ray. (You have to pick your points when it comes to dealing with his issues.) If it doesn't get better in a few days, I'll try again to investigate the possibility of seeing a dr.
The humidity and temp today were too much for me and my asthma. I pooped around the house feeling annoyed that I couldn't work in the garden. I managed to at least water the unplanted plants tonight after the humidity went down.
I haven't read any of your posts yet for the last few days so I'll have to get caught up.
For the knitter/crocheters among you - I have finally found a way to tackle the baby afghan I'm starting by doing a basketweave - knit 5, purl5 for 5 rows, then reverse and using smaller needles. It's very easy to keep track of where I am.
Birthday, anniversary for bro's family this weekend. Cards sent but don't know if we'll see them. The following week, I'll be in KW for a retirement and then off to Sombra the same day for a rehearsal for a wedding which I will then perform the next day.
Whew! Am going to try to fit another birthday celebration in there for a dear friend in Cambridge.
I noticed an ad for 50th anniversary quarter coins from the Canadian Mint in the Blog. I thought that for $2.50 each, these might make nice stocking stuffers for the young ones next Christmas.
Hope everyone is fine! I'm off to check your posts.Last edited by avoncallingu; Wed, Jun 10th, 2015 at 10:25 PM.

My mom won't be coming to visit before my specialist appointments next week. Her fiance is having health issues, so they will be camping closer to home this weekend.
I sold extra 0-3month baby boy clothes for $20 this evening. I received several e-mails from my school today that involve food or financial commitments. This $20 is going to my contribution for retiring teachers, leaves my hands tomorrow. I am supposed to bring food for potlucks: 1 breakfast, 1 evening appetizer, and 1 lunch. Two are on Wed next week and the other is for the following week during final exams.
Dh's truck finally made it back into the shop for a different dealership in town to try to fix the AC on his Dodge truck. Long and frustrating story short. The other dealership in town claimed to have fixed the AC along with many other expensive items while the truck was still under extended warrantied. Many of these "repairs" were billed to Dodge Canada and then we later discovered that a lot of this work was never actually done. So we have since had expensive repairs on the truck that were already "fixed" while it was under warrantied. The location that the truck was at today contacted dh to give him the news. The entire AC system is broken from the $1,000 in "repairs" with the other dealership that worked on the truck's AC three times. We now have a $3,000 AC repair bill coming. This is way more than either of us were anticipating. It is getting fixed and then we are continuing to be in contact with Dodge Canada in hopes that they will go after the fraudulent dealership and we will hopefully get some of the money back in the future. I'm hoping for the best, but this is a large expense that is now coming out of the savings.Help me out with Swagbucks and we can both earn gift cards and PayPal money

$600 per month also includes non-food expenses including cat food, cleaning supplies, toilet paper, medications etc... I have since split my budget to $500 for food and $100 for non-food. This has helped me a lot as I plan out one shop for my non-food purchases (usually Walmart and SDM) and then I know the rest of my grocery $$ can be spent on food.
I think I need to be more strict with myself and stick to a weekly (or biweekly) grocery amount so we don't run out of $$ before the end of the month. I also get paid most of my income once a month and have a tendency to overspend at the beginning of the month and then run out by the end. I love grocery shopping and getting the deals so its really hard for me to say no to a good deal lol.

Morning all! Another SCOP for me last night. Facial cleaning cloths. It could have been a gold mine as they had so many old sale signs up lol. Also popped into Zehrs quick while DS was suiting up for his hockey game. Grabbed 3 of the bacon on sale for $2.99 and 1000 pc pts each. Makes for a cheap dinner (and well received dinner by my boys!!) Suppose to be a nice sunny day today. Should be a quiet day in the office today so hope to get lots of stuff off my desk. Have a great day!

Good morning, everyone.
Critters tried to wake me up early, but I resisted the cute faces. Sorry, but 5am is too early for me.
Today is more housework for me - a couple of weeks of neglect and sheesh it piles up. Lots of dusting to do. And maybe bake some treats for the brats.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
