Are we suppose to be paying tax with this FPC, the wording on the coupon is a little contradictive.

That's the usual wording on FPCs. I know in Ontario you don't have to pay HST for products purchased with FPCs. It's probably best to redeem it at Shoppers Drug Mart, since if the cashier enters the FPC as a dollar off coupon (regular coupon code 2001), all you have to do is tell them to use code 2002 (coupon code for FPCs) instead to not be charged tax. You might encounter problems at other retailers: if the cashier enters the FPC as a dollar off coupon and then fills in the price of the product on the FPC with a pen, you'll have to pay the tax if the cashier, supervisor, customer service etc. isn't knowledgeable about Ontario's laws regarding not charging tax on FPC products, since if you don't want to buy the product at that retailer anymore (because they're erroneously charging you tax) and you get them to return your FPC, the FPC probably now won't be accepted elsewhere with a price already filled in on the FPC.
See the FPC tax free in Ontario, anywhere else? thread for a discussion about this.Last edited by My two Canadian cents; Fri, Jul 10th, 2015 at 04:08 AM.

I had to pay tax (90 cents) here in BC at a Shoppers. The guy was being so rude and un-cooperating, and when I mentioned the tax thing he literally put the coupon in my face and read it aloud in slow motion (as if I was a child) and said no, it specifically says for him to collect tax. He'd already written on the coupon so I just paid it and oh well. Wish I'd gotten someone nicer though.

I notice at shopper's they had a bonus bb cream attach to the lotion. I read the coupon and it said nothing about it being not valid with bonuses. Has anyone tried?

It says right on the coupon "GST, QST, PST and/or HST are included in the face value where applicable" so no one should have to pay anything. The store should be filling it in with the tax included in the price. When the tax is included in the fpc, I always get the cashier to ring in the item separate or first, so they can see the total price including tax.

I redeemed mine at Walmart, at first the CSM filled in the price before the tax, then I quickly pointed out that she need to include the taxes too. She asked where does it say that, I pointed out to her the wordings on the coupons and she wasn't too fond realizing she was wrong. but anyhow, she corrected it to include the tax too.

I also had to pay tax at Superstore. I used the free fridays coupons to get some minions snacks and the bottle of Jergens. I used the self-checkout (big mistake there) and argued with the attendant because it says taxes are included "where applicable". I ended up paying 1.55 in taxes.
Can someone please tell me about the taxation laws with FPC's?
EDIT: I can include the receipt if anyone wants it.
