(OVER) Free Jergens Coupon For A Full Size Bottle

I also had to pay tax at Superstore. I used the free fridays coupons to get some minions snacks and the bottle of Jergens. I used the self-checkout (big mistake there) and argued with the attendant because it says taxes are included "where applicable". I ended up paying 1.55 in taxes.
Can someone please tell me about the taxation laws with FPC's?

It depends on the term stated on the coupon itself. Some require customer to pay the tax, most don't. If the coupon doesn't mention who pays taxes then I would redeem it at SDM. They usually entered as 2002 so it's totally free. WM's policy is customer pay taxes if it's not clearly state "taxes included in face value of coupon".

Next time you're there ask them to refund you the taxes that they incorrectly charged you. You don't have to pay taxes on Jergens / Minions.

Ah, ok. Thanks for the clarification. I was arguing with the employee at the self-checkout about how the coupons say that tax is included "where applicable". She said that it is not applicable in BC and it says that in the "to the consumer" part of the coupon .
Next time I go there, I will try to get my money back

no. I wouldn't leave out the same info twice. Was the envelope for this labelled as an FPC? I think we have thieves in our building. Well-labelled FPCs often disappear

That sucks. It wasn't really an envelope, it was one of those things that folds over and is sealed with tape, so wouldn't have been hard for someone to figure out it was a FPC.

Only if the person is into couponing. It could easily be mistaken for a flyer / junk mail.
