Oooooohhhhh...no problem there....!!!
But it's got to be something I've really wanted, and it's GOT to be on sale!
I never pay retail for anything that's pricey to begin with...
Paying retail is just silly....
However, when raising kids, spending on their schooling and all that entails, my little 'gifts' to myself were
fewer and far between and cheaper...like a pricier lipstick...I don't think a woman should put everyone's needs in front ofhers 24/7. We all need to feel special, to feel we deserve little treats...or else it's all drudgery and what's it all about, Alfie, right? (I know...dating myself again, but the older gals will know what I mean..:)
I spent a good chunk on some Arbonne products last week that I have been wanting for quite some time, it took me about 6 months to finally order them... add to cart, remove, add to cart, remove...
I tend to do little splurges every now and then, usually a new makeup palette or some home decor, nothing too major. Right now I have some major wants on my list, like a trip and some home renos, so I don't splurge too much on other things.
I don't often splurge on the big things. But there have been a few occasions where I couldn't leave the store without buying something that had caught my eye. A few years ago, I was in Stokes looking around for a gift and spotted a piggy bank. The colours were just right for my bedroom. I left the store, got home and then just had to drive back and pick it up.
Gonna answer with a twist. I gave a friend a gift card to use as “splurge money”. Gift card was from cashing in points, so cost me nothing. Friend has been having some personal and financial woes lately – you know when everything happens all at once. I was hoping to secretly get some couponing and savings advice in there but decided to let my friend do “whatever” with the gift.
It was so nice to get a few happy phone calls in the last little while from my friend and also to find out that my friend was watching my shopping habits very closely. The gift card was used for groceries. I was informed about all the savings found buying the items on sale and then using coupons and ending up with more items than planned, for a little money. The gift card was used on a few shopping trips, and not one big one, because I want to stretch this as far as it can go.
I think that splurging is something that people should do for peace of mind, as a reward, or as a mini vacation. Just as long as it doesn’t make you poorer.
Very nice of you Shwa girl. You can't beat that. If I really want something, I will buy it for myself. I have always put others before me.
I am like toronto166-i always put others before myself -did buy a top today thou 19.99 at winners -nope had a gift card so free
I've done without for so long, pfft what's a few more years? I really don't have expensive tastes though or needs for fancy duds, makeup or accessories BUT I cannot be trusted in any kitchen store where shiny new small appliances and gadget type items are.
It's crazy I love them all. Last year I bought myself a few dehydrators for an awesome discount and some sealing " accessories " all in one kit on sale.... lol!! Fun times.
Oh! I have to agree about kitchen stores! All those summer citrus colours! Makes me want to change everything over instead of just a few things; and gadgets?! Yes, absolutely, and all those other little non kitchen things...cute kitchen theme notepads, cards...gotta love it! :)
i hate spending money on unnecessary things, i never pay retail!! but had to at Walmart for a backpack $ 14.00 plus tax
it was the cheapest i could find, ( needed it for carrying groceries)
quit going to clothing/shoe stores - too much temptation and always buyers remorse
that said, my latest splurge besides the back pack was 4 decorative candle holder from Dollarma!!
This was my latest splurge today and it is so pretty!
