Not sure how long it will take but the latest craze in the UK is swilling your mouth with coconut oil for 20 minutes. All the celebraties seem to be doing it. Apparently the Indians (Asian) have been doing this for decades. I think I will stick to toothpaste myself, Arm & Hammer whitening.

Whitening products have a form of Peroxide in them, so you could try dabbing a little onto your toothbrush before you apply your toothpaste, and then brush as normal.
Use just a little, because too much can irritate you. Whitening/Bleaching using peroxide was originally discovered by a Gum Specialist (Periodontist) who noticed that adjacent teeth were being bleached when he was applying peroxide to gums as a therapeutic treatment. It will take away staining to bring you back to your natural enamel color, which can vary from person to person.
I find that Sonicare toothbrushes are really good at also breaking down surface staining. Just the regular $200 one is just fine, you don't necessarily have to use the ones that are more expensive. In 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts

Peroxide is the main ingredient in ALL whitening systems. There are 2 main forms of peroxide used (I have read LOTS of the patents, it is Hydrogen Peroxide and another form that is used alternatively)
The ones that work faster simply have a higher concentration of peroxide BUT they are also in a buffering material of some sort. Don't apply straight peroxide because even though it removes the stains from teeth quite well it can irritate the skin surrounding the teeth.
Removing stains from your teeth will only last as long as you refrain from consuming staining foods. Tooth whitening is not a one time process, there has to be maintenance to keep future stains from accumulating too much. It is an ongoing bleaching process.
Lastly, lots of ppl have thinned enamel because we drank and ate acidic things during our lives. It makes teeth more sensitive to the whitening process in terms of feeling some pain afterwards. That is normal, in regards to tooth whitening. If you do it too often, or do a one-shot high concentration process (Zoom) you will feel some pain.In 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups!
