SA i know how you feel,i have my youngest dd ,sil and 3 grandkids living with me and sometimes my dd treats me like one of her kids. There are times when i have to stand my ground and tell her i'm not 1 of your kids but your mother show me some respect..there are days when i would like to throw them all out on the street as my home is not my home sometimes.
Yippee I have made it to lunch and my day is more than half over. Now I just need to find a way for this afternoon to fly by.
SA- Interesting-we keep ours outside too and I had never heard that before:-)
Haha no those are the old ones!
I must admit I was never too worried about the BBQ or maybe it was the it will not happen to me thing but last year one blew up on my step mom. She light it and apparently there were flames coming out every where, not sure how she turned the gas off but some how did. Now I am a little cautious
Went home at lunch and watched Till Debt do us part with my little man. He really wanted KD for lunch so that's what I made him. Easy to please. Cleaned the kitchen before I left. Also turned off the A/C. It was cool in the house. Will turn it back on if needed when needed. I can tell that the dog was happy to have DS there with her all morning. She was very cuddly with him at lunch. She is going to be lonely next week when he is out the door early and not home till dinner.
So today will be a total no spend day! I hope to do this everyday this week! We have tons of food and can last till Saturday. I also hope to sell a few items this week if I get around to posting some new items. Summer is very slow which I understand (I'm glad people are enjoying the sunshine and not sitting on computer, I would too if I didn't have to work :) ) But will try and see if I get any bites.
Oh WOB, you just reminded me of LO's book, But Not The Hippopotomus. "And she just doesn't know. Should she stay, should she go? But yes, the hippopotomus!" Funny the silliness that goes through our heads with children's books. It's a welcome change rather than filling your head with expenses and bills. :-)
That's horrible! Your poor son. I know sometimes these insurance things can escalate into craziness. Our car had three small dents in it, low mileage, ran fabulously. The insurance decided that the damage was about $600, and over $4,000 for the labour. Adding in the cost of the rental, our insurance wrote off our car.
Another man ran into the back of it once. I never declared it. He cracked our bumper, but it was a hairline crack. DH said he wouldn't have reported it either, but I was hesitant. DH said if he knew insurance was going to write off the car, he wouldn't have declared it.
All these small things really make a big impact in these insurance "games", but there's no reason for him to be such a jerk. Perhaps he had a rough day. I'm glad there was no damage and he dropped the claim.
@Natalka: I hope you can find some relief in this heat. I know it's suffocating at times. One summer, I lived in a rental flat where the temperature approached the high 30s at night. My fish died because the water was actually hot. There was no breeze, and I had to shower and lie on the bed in front of the fan to barely breathe! A kind friend invited me over to his place once a week for heat relief, but I always had to return to the hot apartment.
I hope you can stay near the AC but hug a fan other times!
This weekend, I tossed out some old clothes that couldn't be repaired. I think I might get rid of some more soon or see if my brother might like some of DH's donation pile. He regularly visits Value Village so I might be able to save him some too!
LO has been asking for her old teachers. :( Sometimes she thinks she sees them when she's out or one of her old classmates in a book. Poor thing.
Well, I'm cooler! :)
I finally got to sleep around 6 a.m. and slept over three hours, yay!
Got up and husband had the a/c on, and he was doing the dishes. What a honey to spend his day off doing this!
Now he's gone to Shoppers - mostly to pick up groceries, since there's a great pts coupon for food/snacks, plus some other household things.
Yesterday he put in the new outlet for the a/c - gosh, I don't understand that stuff, but he apparently did the impossible. I'm not surprized, he's amazing!
Son is coming for supper tonight, so YAY! Frugal supper, using chicken from making soup yesterday.
oh I can't wait to get home and see what things my wonderful man did. He sent me a picture that her put up a new door stopper in the bathroom we just renovated (I didn't want a cheap plastic thing on the floor- wanted a nice square piece of wood where the door handle goes. It looks good! Now we can move the Kleenex box off the floor.
Yeah- The hose in the back yard works now! When he went to turn it on from the basement (the shut off valve for the winter) it was spraying water all over so he needed to try and get a new knob and hope that was the issue to fix it. It was!!! Yeah! Will be so much easier watering the veggies growing now :)) Man it is the little things that need fixing! Thank gosh I have such a handy guy :) Oh and DS surprised me when I got home at lunch. He picked up dog poop in back yard. Cleaned and organized the shoes in the front closet. Folded the blankets on the couch. And took the dog for a walk on our street. he is so cute. He wants a hamster and is trying to show he can take care of it and help out. Help me!
I hope @bobbiegirl2010 is doing fine and is just busy enjoying her summer as she hasn't posted in quite some time.
@Frugalbigmama it's amazing how much time all those little things take, glad they are getting done as your dh has some spare time.
