Westdale Metro grocery store to become a Food Basics location
Just happened to see the Spec news item about what's happening with the Metro stores in Dundas plus the one in Westdale. It answers my question of why the Westdale store and the Dundas stores are not showing up in Metro's list Ontario locations when I enter their summer contest on their Facebook page.
Last year, I had heard that one of the Dundas stores was to convert to a Food Basics (Ogilivie site) but it did not happen.
Quote:
The Westdale store, at 845 King St. W., closed earlier this month and is expected to re-open as a Food Basics in mid-September, though no opening date is set.
Meanwhile, 110 employees at the Governor’s Road Metro and another 100 staff at the University Plaza Metro will apparently not be affected as the two sites undergo changes.
“I can confirm that the 119 Osler Drive and 15 Governor’s Road Metro locations in Dundas are currently undergoing minor renovations,” said Metro spokesperson Mark Bernhardt. “They are not closing, and will not be converted into Food Basics’ stores.”
