I think that is highly unlikely at this point.

Mulcair is even making noise about a coalition.

It's unclear how the electorate will react to that kind of tactic and it's unclear how well such a coalition could effectively govern. The NDP and the Liberals both have different agendas and would both have their eye on the main prize, their own party as the next government.

Now a Liberal minority would be interesting. They might govern for a long time. The NDP wouldn't want to bring them down because a new election could hurt the NDP even more than they're already being hurt.

Well, it'll be an interesting little while in Canadian politics, no doubt about that.
I think I said minority right from the start I would have to look way back in the thread. I think we are at the coin toss stage now, Libs or Cons.

And don't forget. Polls all overstate likelihood to vote and do not normalize the data by age cohort; young people over represented in polls.

I saw this on facebook and had to share it

    • You know, since I'm a Conservative I obviously find a lot to object to about the "strategic voting" movement. But beyond partisanship, people on the left should... really be aware that the central premise of the idea — that we somehow "know" with absolute certainty who is the left-wing candidate "most likely" to defeat the Conservative in riding X — is based on false assumptions. Canada simply does not have accurate polling data with that level of precision or certainty. Hell, even polling data at the provincial or national level is full of question marks these days. And in this year's election many riding boundaries have been re-drawn, meaning it's less clear than ever where it's "safe" to vote Liberal/NDP/Green/whatever.
I'm a Conservative, but I do care about democracy and I feel like a lot of left-wing voters are getting scammed by slick websites peddling easy answers they don't actually have. The only way elections are won in this country is because more voters line up behind one party than any of the others.

The conservative campaigns in my riding and the one right next to us have been driving people to the polls and helping people get there
