Morning! Rainy day here so good day to be at work! Left the house really tidy this morning so it motivates me to keep at it. Will dry the load I washed last night and put it away. Will pull a whole chicken and defrost for tomorrow nights dinner (late meeting tonight so I will fend for myself- Gram will feed kids) I should plan to clean out the entrance closet tonight too. Hopefully purge a jacket or two.
Back to School suggestions- I stock up on snacks now when the sales are on (and match with PC PLUS pts) I always check expiry dates and buy what we will use before they expire.) I hide them away in a Rubbermaid container :) I also organize and get the re-useable containers for lunch packing to see what I need. Same with school supplies. I made sure to wash/clean back packs and lunch bags from last year as soon as school was finished and we don't need anything this year since they are all in good shape. (I wash often during the school year so I'm sure that helped!) I stocked up on school supplies past years and still don't need any this year. We have tons! I went through youngest DS's clothing and rid of the too small. I need to do it again this weekend. So much easier to see what he has when it all fits. I bought 1 new pair of jeans for him in a bigger size so I have something but he has so much clothes that he really doesn't need anything. Hoping for nice weather in September so he can wear his nice cargo shorts. Winter wear is ready too. He may need new boots but I will pull his from last year and see if they fit. I think they might. I purchased the good HEAD gloves at Costco in June :) And we have a box with tons of winter hats. Oldest wears a uniform so I will buy him a new top and pants if he ever makes the time to go try them on. If not he can wear the ones he has. I was given them for free so I have no problem buying new ones now.
I put $40 in a jar each month for "school expenses". I started it up again in July so have $80 and change in there now so a good start for before school starts. This money is for school trips, agendas (if needed) lunch money etc. It has really helped having it this way then I'm not always digging for money or having to take from misc. in the budget etc. Sorry I rambled :)

We bought a new backpack last year for this year. Will do the same this year and get a new lunch pail too. We will reuse lunch pail this year. Sometimes I think we get caught up in new when what we have is just fine. My daughter is in SK we don't have to buy much...the older the more $$$ I feel.
@sweet sparrow , I find Anniversary Days is hit and miss, a couple years ago amazing for under $100 we had a year supply of paper products, dish soap, toothpaste. Last year RCSS was actually a better deal so we went with them. What I found is other retailers have caught on and will also put out pretty good flyers at the same time to compete for as a consumer I find it win, win someone will have what we need at a price I can't pass up. Hope I didn't just jinx myself.
@sweet sparrow, Wal-Mart can be hit and miss for knitters cotton, our local one only had the big $10 balls which I thought was WAY too much until I knew if I could pull off this knitting thing. We went to another one which did have some but the selection was extremely limited. I was told since Wal-Mart downsized their craft sections buying things there can be very hit and miss as they are not re stocked often.
I guess another tip might be to save your receipts in case of a return!Quote:

It's dark and gloomy here (& cool! blech!), so we're all in a sleepy mood. Tempted to nap with the critters, but housework calls. Sigh. Oh, well, my own fault for making treats. For the brats (of course!). ;)

@Sweets parrow A lot of Walmarts have downsized their craft sections to make room for groceries. I`m fortunate enough to live near Spinrite so I buy most of my yarn there. Walmart now has the exclusive distribution rights to a yarn that I use a lot of. I wouldn`t mind except they very seldom have the colours I`m looking for. Was so happy when I found out I can order directly from Spinrite.

The twins were very needy last night, so I'm in need of sleep. Dh helped from 12:30-2:30am so that I could sleep, which was the longest stretch of sleep that I got all night. I have a couple of meals planned, just not sure when we will eat it what.
Shepherd's pie with fresh red potatoes from my garden and a big glass of milk.
Pork steak, apple sauce, tossed salad, organic corn on the cob from a friend's mom's garden, and a big glass of milk.
I also want to do some baking.
Cheese pinwheels made from home made pizza dough, first time attempting this. Oatmeal squares. Molasses oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I will happily freeze some of these to eat at a later date.
I am planning on going fishing for a while on Saturday with my brother since it is free fishing weekend. It would be great to bring home made snacks. I haven't seen my brother in months. Dh agreed to take care of our children so that I could go out for a while. I will obviously leave him with pumped bottles of milk in the fridge.
I have too much tomatoes in my garden and I have no intention of making pasta sauce this year. I have posted on local Facebook garage sale pages to trade or sell the extras. Someone bought $10 worth of tomatoes from me yesterday. I still have about 8 large ripe yellow tomatoes on my plants right now. We ca only eat them so fast, so I'm hoping to sell some more. I am currently waiting on a lady who is coming to buy fresh red rhubarb from me right now.
Went to RCSS To PM NF for the Nature Valley bars and Betty Crocker snacks. At $1.44 that is a deal and a treat for kids lunch when I don't have baking etc. I plan to really get in a good routine this fall and prep for the week and bake snacks as well. But I will appreciate having these on hand when I don't have time to bake. Have to make sure I am more prepared when I shop on the weekend and get up and go early morning since by the time I get there I hate bringing my ipad in to Price match so I put off doing so. I also bought rye bread (0 sugar!! ) so will make egg salad sandwich for my work lunch tomorrow :)
