Was so happy when I found out I can order directly from Spinrite.

Apparently my local Co-op will have a farmers market in their parking lot this aft so I will pop down and see if there are any deals to be had. Not going to be winning parent of the year award this year as we enrolled our daughter in a Math refresher course 3 hrs each day this week to review for high school-oh well the summer break is pretty long anyway and when you do no Math since Jan on the semester system we thought a review was in order. We still have forest fire smoke and have been having terrible air quality but we finally popped out for a walk this aft-it has cleared a bit.

Had a busy day. Loaded and unloaded the car with three children all in car seats or boosters 6 times. 😧 by myself. 😮 plus 2 times with just LO.

Any tips on how to ripen pears @ momof5boys

    Evening all,

Canned 6x 1 litre tomatoes au jus w/ lesson, also bottled 16x 250ml of Tuscan tomato sauce. Still have tons of tomatoes that will be ripening over the next week or two.

Tired...sandwiches for supper, oh well they will survive.

Now to figure where to spread out all those pears we picked last night.

A simple supper is fine! We eat too much as a society. I get tired of a full dinner night after night. I had eggs and toast tonight. I had to fend for myself and simple was good!

    Hello folks from Denver!
We arrived last night a bit late. Grand-daughter is doing very well. The DR said that if they didn't live in the "mile high" city where the oxygen level is generally lower, she might not have needed the oxygen.
She's a cutie, of course. Her sister is a teenager acting like a teenager but loves to snuggle with her baby sister. Her brother spends most of his time online, like a ten year old. Nice kids! Very much into sports.
I had to have a snooze this afternoon. Jet lag, I guess. I fed the baby, changed her diaper, did some laundry and folded it, watered plants- just little things to help mummy have a quieter day. She also works from home doing bookkeeping for a firm. So she's busy.
Here's to all you great SC'ers

So far we were blessed with picking this beautiful pear tree and I look to freezing and canning in light syrup once ripe (5-10 days)

Also here is a pick of the strawberry rhubarb another lady gave us last night.

You may have also noticed my kitchenaide mixer is pear green (haha) which blender in the picture (on the left side)
@avoncallingu enjoy your visit but don't overdue yourself, nap while you can and they will be so grateful for the little extras you do to lessen their daily chores/activities. Small things add up quickly in a day. PS hope your dh is feeling better these days

Nice haul Nancy. We don`t eat pears but we have our own rhubarb...need to check on that...and apples. Don`t usually pick them til beginning of Sept though. I need to make some room in the freezer.

I have the pears spread out on the basement floor where it is cool. They don't all ripen at once so, as they ripen, I put them into the fridge until there is enough to can a load (if the boys don't eat them first lol). I peel the pears and put them into jars, then add hot syrup before putting them into the canner.
