    Hey all,

They say things happen for a reason and I am thankful for last minute plans for Jaden getting a ride to football with my MIL CHANGED. MIL is a horrible driver and I cringe everytime I need to get a ride or she takes the kids out because I can't tell you how many times she almost side swiped a vehicle or a few times a tractor trailer. Anyways MIL either fell asleep or zoned out and crossed over the highway and rolled her car, it's a write off. The drivers side is obviously banged up BUT the passenger side was totally mangled and if Jaden would have been the passenger I don't even want to imagine what the outcome would have been. MIL is fine but the car not so much. She has admitted to the police officer that she fell asleep. Dh, FIl and I are all hoping they pull her license not nice to wish but it would be the best thing for everyone on the road.

On a more positive note I canned 16x 500ml jars of pears in syrup and have 8 bags of sliced pears in the freezer for baking.

I still have another day's worth of pears to can and/or freeze.

I am quickly filing up the chest freezer which is good BUT will be in trouble if dh get's a moose...

FIL brought me over some yellow & green beans this am which was a nice surprise, the beans are in the freezer - 5 bags in total for winter eating, I'm the only 1 who eats beans so that's good. Each package has enough beans for 3 meals for me.

So tomorrow will be my apple day and if time permits tomatoes as well.

Feeling like a squirrel these days (haha) but feeling good about being productive.

    Wishing everyone a wonderful evening.

DH, FIL and some male relatives are gone on a UTV (side by side) trip so I won't be picking up socks in the am (haha).

OH MY GOODNESS, J&C!!! You're SO right about things happening for a reason and thank God your son wasn't in that car!!! Sorry to hear about your MIL, however; speaking as someone who's likely around her age, independence is so important to us and it's the one thing I missed so much during my convalescence. It's just not the same having our Hubbies drive us, no matter how patient they are with us roaming around the shops and stores. However, in her case, I can absolutely understand how you feel; this could have really hurt her physically and then everyone would have wished it could have been prevented.

As for squirreling away for the winter, lol...good for YOU!!! Enjoy the process as well as the rewards! You're quite amazing!!

Wow Nancy! So glad Jaden wasn`t in the car. It`s not nice to lose your independence but sometimes it`s for the best. I couldn`t drive once for 6 months because of an arthritis flareup. Now I hope and pray it doesn`t happen again because hubby can`t drive due to his eyesight.

J&C, omg! I'm so glad to hear that no one was hurt in this accident! Jaden AND your mil had a guardian angel looking after them! I fell asleep at the wheel a couple of years ago while driving on the 401- our 4 lane (or6) highway. I woke up as I headed into the median heading for the other set of lanes. DH can't understand how I didn't flip the car.

After an incident when I was in the car with my mother driving, I had to report to my mother's dr. Who
Then removed her licence. She was devistated, but, honestly, she was headed towards an accident that might have hurt her or someone else. A woman in our town had actually killed a 16 year old 2 weeks before when she stepped on the gas instead of the break pulling into a parking space. It was then that I knew I had to report her to the dr. She never really forgave me, though.

    Good Morning All,
Nancy yes things do happen for a reason, so glad everyone is okay. Same thing happened to my bro a number of years ago and luckily he did not have his gf with him or it would have been very different. My bro some how slipped into the back seat as the car rolled and that is what saved him as I only saw photos but the car no longer looked like a car and they warned my dad you will not recognize it as a car.

Good new I have my furniture, bad news I completely LOST IT at the driver. Our delivery window was 9 am to 1 pm, Mom needed to leave for work at 12:30 so I head home around 12:15 as they are not there. They just phoned Mom and said they were here but they think they were at the wrong address, the address they gave her was 10 minutes from our house so she gave them directions to our house form there. Half an hour later they phone again telling me their GPS will not pick up our address are we in Toronto or North York um neither. So after about 20 minutes on the phone they said their GPS still would not pick up our address but they would see what they could do, okay I am getting mad they have 7 minutes to get here and as more and more times passes I wonder are they in Toronto looking for me. I will admit at this time all I can think is there are no where close to where I am and they are going to cancel my delivery and who knows when they will move it too, we both have this weekend off and may have no furniture. Finally like 10 after 2 a truck pulls into our parking lot (oh don't get excited it is not over yet) I get a phone call please come out we cannot find you. I go outside and there is a guy wondering around I say "I think your looking for me" he says "Oh don't mind me we are lost" I say again louder "You are looking for me" he says "No we are in the wrong place" I then say "Are you from Ikea" he says "Yes but we are in the wrong place" I say again "You are you looking for me". They then get in the back of their truck and in there for like 20 minutes before one comes and asks me for a copy of my bill which I do not have printed off it is on my phone, they ask me if I will go print it, um no I shut down my laptop and it takes me printer like 10 minutes to start up and I NEED to get back to work. I show him my order tell him my last name, he leaves again, 10 minutes later we cannot find how do you spell your last name (really you looked at it on my phone and spelled it out for yourself) and back he goes. Finally they find it and bring it to the door and here is where the fight starts. He asks where we want it and I explain shelves basement, bed and dresser upstairs, oh no ma'am we cannot do that you have to pick one room for all furniture so either we put it all in the basement or all upstairs, okay I am getting mad I admit it but I am trying to stay calm but it isn't working. What do you mean you cannot last time Ikea delivered we purchased furniture for ALL 3 FLOORS and they put each item on the correct level for me, oh no ma'am a new law (yes he said law) has been passed and for your safety we are no longer allowed to do that you pick one place and we put everything there and you move it to where you need it. Okay I lose it at this point and my rant went something along these lines "I spoke with Ikea and asked would stairs be an issue, they said no, I said would it be an issue that half needs to be in the basement and half goes upstairs, again no, I paid $129 for you to deliver this because I know I cannot lift these boxes, I could have borrowed and truck and picked up but I KNEW I could not get them up and down the stairs, that is why you are here" his response back oh they must not know the law (yes he used the word law again) is new I think September 1st. I admit at this point I am yelling and one neighbour did come out to see what was going on, I did not care I just look at him and say "You are over an hour late, I told my boss at the latest I would be back by 2 it is now well past 2:30 and you are telling me you are going to put everyone in one place and I have to move it, if this is going to be an issue tell me know and you can both stand here well I call Ikea." Well as soon as I said that his tune totally changed. He then says "If you look at the boxes and tell me which are which I will put them anywhere you want them but you need to stop shouting at me". Okay I admit I was yelling. So we start sorting through the boxes and he takes them where ever I want them, but there are 2 guys one has gone back and is sitting in the truck well the other does all the work. I feel bad for him but hey that is between you two. Finally when he is down to 2 boxes the other guy comes and takes them (just going to say they were the 2 light boxes even I could have lifted). So I go and check everything and sure enough the one guy put everything down nicely stacked the other 2 just dropped the boxes in the middle of hallway they are gone so I have to move them as I cannot access my room. Get that done grab my stuff and go to leave and there they are sitting in our parking lot, okay I am not leaving yet. Finally they leave I go get in my car and they are sitting at the end of the road, okay guess I am not leaving yet so I wait again. Finally they pull off the road but I see them sitting on the side of the road around the corner, okay I do not like this I am going to loop back, when I do they are gone. Needless to say there will be am email going regarding the delivery right after I phone Ikea today to confirm there is no law (which I already know there is not but I want to prove my point). We have furniture and tomorrow will be build day, we have a plan so I am happy now we just need to execute it which will be the issue.

On a much nicer note last night I finished one of Mom's Christmas presents, it is going to be a crocheted Christmas. As I mentioned my leadership coach said I needed something for me well knitting and crocheting is that thing and I am a little obsessed so I think everyone will be getting homemade gifts. As well I cleaned the side tables I bought earlier this week. Only one is in my room right as the other will not fit and is in the guest room but both have been cleaned. Now I just have to figure out what of my current furniture is staying and what will be go, sadly I think even a few things I had hoped to keep will have to go as I just will not have room. I need to look at function over want but we will see once I start moving stuff around.

Well better get back to today, I had to move my leadership coaching to this afternoon plus I am off tomorrow so today could be fun. Have a great day everyone.

^^ sorry @SassyAshley I just cannot get through that text, space it out more next time. I find it hurts my eyes when the sentences are all strung together, sorry maybe just my old eyes.

Good morning all, first thing is WOW! close call @jasperandchar ....so glad the end result was only damage to her car and slight injury for her.
I love how many foods you are processing, it is a great feeling when it is all frozen or packed away in jars, congrats!
Not much going on here today, but DD is ticked that her Univ is actually having classes today and Friday?? They usually start after the long weekend, not sure why it is different this year?

    Good morning!

FBMama - Kevin James is so funny, enjoy your evening out!

J&C - so glad your MIL is okay, so scary!
It's just awesome that you are prepping so much food!

When I was a kid, mom canned SO much - there were six of us, after all.
My fave was crab apples - I've never tasted anything like them since then. She also did peaches and pears, all kinds of pickles and beets, and made sauerkraut (oh, I miss that!), plus a variety of jams and jellies (nanking cherry jelly was my fave - I had the good fortune to make it a few times when we were living where we had a bush, as did the neighbours, so I could pick enough of them).

    Sigh!

Well, on with the day. Did another cabbage yesterday, have two more to blanch to get the leaves in the freezer.

Making veggie soup for supper, so will be able to use some of the cabbage ends in that.

    Have a great day, everyone!

-hopefully I feel better on Friday -I watch "ashlyn" and sat at 5.00 p.m my grown kids are getting together at our house to celebrate my daughter's birthday -we are getting takeout for our grown kids a treat

    Good morning, everyone.

Had a stressful night chatting with a friend. Long story short(er), my friend gave up a successful career to move back home to take care of an ailing parent (Alzheimers). 15yrs later, the parent is gone (2 yrs now) and now the siblings (who never contributed financially to her care and rarely visited) are demanding their share of the estate (only thing left is the house where my friend is living). My friend has spent all savings taking care of the parent and the house (new roof, driveway, etc). Yesterday, one of the siblings came by with boxes to help my friend start packing up the house to get ready to sell it. Total surprise to my friend.

I can't believe family members would behave like a pack of jackals trying to snatch a piece of prey.

On the plus side, it's sunny, the brats are happy, so I should be too.

Been working on a project for bff's b-day (it's next week & I'm still not finished). If I ever do finish it, I'll post a pic. I'm really out of my element with this project (what was I thinking?!). Better get back to it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
