Hmmmm...I have a bad feeling this is going to have some ripple effect in some other states, and set a precedent. Shame on politicians for using this as an opportunity to gain votes. Cruz and Huckabee heading to Kentucky to offer support

A U.S. district judge on Tuesday ordered a Kentucky county clerk released after six days in jail for defying his orders to issue same-sex marriage licenses, saying he was satisfied the licenses were being issued in accordance with U.S. law.

I have several highly Christian FB friends, from a now defunct board, who feel that Ms Davis is being persecuted purely for her beliefs rather than ...dunno ...disobeying/defying the law she herself had vowed to upkeep when she was sworn in as the elected county clerk.

One of these friends then posted this

Numbers 30:2
"When a man makes a vow to the LORD or takes an oath to obligate himself by a pledge, he must not break his word but must do everything he said."

as proof that Ms Davis was correct to disobey the judge.

Like the bus driver here in Canada that refuses to drive a bus if it is painted in the rainbow colour. All this tell me is that there are still people out there that can't seem to tolerate other people based on religion, colour, sexual orientation. It's like we haven't moved on from the old day of ....."only certain colours on a bus".

It will be interesting to see how Ms Avis treats foreigners / minorities

Huckabee.." Citizens should obey law only if they think it's right"

GOP presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee on Sunday defended Kentucky county clerk Kim Davis for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses. When asked by ABC host George Stephanopoulos whether Davis had an obligation to uphold the law, even if she disagreed with it, Huckabee argued she did not.
“You obey if it’s right,” the former Arkansas governor said on “This Week.” “So, I go back to my question, is slavery the law of the land because Dred Scott said so? Was that a correct decision? Should the courts have been irrevocably followed on that? Should Lincoln have been put in jail? Because he ignored it. That’s the fundamental question.”
The 1857 Dred Scott decision is widely viewed as the worst Supreme Court ruling in history. In it, the Court ruled that no one with African ancestry could be a citizen of the United States and voided prior legislation that had blocked the expansion of slavery into parts of the country. Huckabee, like some other conservatives, argued that a 19^th-century ruling requiring discrimination against black people is similar to a 21^st-century ruling barring discrimination against LGBT people.

WBC to picket Kim Davis "cos she's a fake"

Here’s where it gets really interesting. Westboro says Davis sinned because she committed adultery, and sin is what’s led God away from us, so they end up advocating for Davis to give gay people the licenses they deserve. She helped usher in this modern tragedy, they say, so she might as well reap what she sowed.
