    Hi friends!

Has anyone purchased and used the Walmart Brand (Great Value) Sweetened Condensed Milk? If so, is it any good?
I've only ever used the Eagle Brand and PC brand. Which were both great. I've heard that Sweetened Condensed Milk is one of those few products where name brand actually matters, because the generic brands just aren't as good.

Opinions/comments are greatly appreciated! I have some baking to do and I don't want to mess it up because I used a not so great sweetened condensed milk.

    Thank you all!

Got one can from Walmart about a month ago, and used it for making beverage.
The taste was great, but have no idea about use it for baking, but should not be a bad try.

I haven't, but PC is on at Shoppers for 1.99, and it's very good so I bought some.
I have also used Shoppers Brand - not sure if it was Everyday Market? - and it was just as good as the others.

Good price but that is evaporated milk, the poster was asking about condensed milk. It is very thick sweet milk mainly used in baking. The two are confused often but aren't interchangeable in recipes.

Um ok, not interchangeable for baking so not sure how it is the next best thing for the Op. And if you knew what the difference was you would realize your comment "next best thing" makes no sense what so ever.

beachdown, totally different item, nowhere near the next best thing, since it's not used for anything remotely similar.

Perhaps in Eastern Europe (former Yugoslavia) things are cooked differently? The British way of doing things and improvising is different obviously.

    Yeah..funny LOL I know right

I'm not picky about brands and you can often get good deals on brands like Grace in the Indian section - they use it to make chai tea.

Anyway, everyone try the Eagle Brand 1 2 3 Fudge recipe if you are baking for Christmas - works awesome! So simple!

Yes that fudge is really really good and I also make caramel with it to make turtles at Christmas. I have made my own before but I think the recipe called for powdered milk a lot of sugar and and a long cook time and I was just okay with the results but this was many many years ago.

I would have NO idea, have never been there, have never cooked there.

Yup, funny when you make sweeping generalizations and assumptions.

But you are Eastern European no, with family that came over recently as mentioned in your other post? I don't know why someone will want to deny their heritage, especially when you post all that Ukraine stuff...now that is funny
