My Worst Nightmare Just Became Real Life

I know it has been a long long time since I have posted but something happened and I need somewhere to vent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was laying in bed tonight as usual. I had to adjust the sheets on my bed as they become untucked and stuff. I moved my latop and the stand that it sits on out of the way, ed the sheet down and tucked it in, ed the bedspread back down and went to slide back under the sheet.

So when I got under there I went to pull it tight. Suddenly my laptop and stand slid off my bed and hit the floor below! :eek::eek::eek::eek:

I could still hear the audio of the program I was listen to, so I thought "okay it is okay. It has a hard case on it. Then I realized that it powered down but thought well no wonder, it is supposed to do that when dropped. So I put it back on the bed, ed the monitor open and turned on the power. I saw the power light come on, breathed a sigh of relief and prepared to move back in under the bed.

So I turned the laptop towards me and there it was.................. nothing but a mess of sqiggly lines!!!!!!!!!!! :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: :eek:

My only salvation may be that I bought the laptop in 2013 and got the extended warranty on it. So I pray and pray and pray that this warranty covers it. I will have to contact my dad in Woodstock tomorrow as he has the actual warranty up there with him. Than I will contact Staples where I got it and see what can be done. I hope it is covered! My other salvation is I have my old one (which I am on right now, but it is so out of date it is not even funny!)

This is the worst day of my life. I am so frustrated and upset, it has been a very upsetting day and this is nothing but the icing on the cake. So i am venting here and then going to bed.

I am sorry about what happened to your laptop but i have to say something to you. I dont usually post on the "rants" section of SC but your thread title depicted that , God forbid, something bad..very bad happened. Do you know that a 2 year old girl and her dad were murdered today in Alberta? This is where we say our worst nightmares come true. Not on the loss of laptop or other material stuff.

May be i am being too sensitive about it because i couldn't get that news of little girl's murder out of my mind...but just think about it.

HP fixed mine easily when that happened to me. Mailed it to them on a Monday, received it back on Wednesday. It was an easy fix.

That is an awful thing that has happened......However,

....don't forget the OP had not posted for a long time. He just wanted to 'get it off his chest' as I am sure we too would be really upset if we broke our laptop.

What's "ed"? I gather SC is filtering part of that word?

@salady - no idea what 'ed' refers to either.....

a bad day indeed .... my day wasn't so great either but nothing bad happened to me or my loved ones - and I can sleep without nightmares .... the rest is just "stuff" ... I came here to vent about something from a few days ago that still bugs me but put in perspective it's just not a big deal :)

To OP -- hopefully your dad has good news about the warranty information .... sometimes they are fantastic in what they cover....

To the family in Alberta - that you don't "recover" from - just very sad and disturbing all round...

OP, I'm sorry this happened to you and I hope you are able to get it fixed quickly.
