New sod question

I had new sod laid on my entire property almost 3 weeks ago. The installer told me the sod was pre-fertilized but that I'd still have to fertilize it again before Winter. I called a company today to get an estimate and they told me you can't fertilize sod that new as it would ruin it. They told me I shouldn't fertilize until Spring and there is no way they will touch it. So now I'm confused and don't know whose advice to take. Anyone with experience here? Thank you !

Then you need to wait until spring... Then fertilize. I don't thing there is any other option for it
