Productive day yesterday:
Finances and filing
Huge grocery shop
Birthday cards for October and mail
Pleasure shopping and lunch out
My MIL came over during dinner hour to help with the baby while I prepped since it was a ministry evening for DH.
Today: family day at a pumpkin farm! Prepping mashed potatoes for Saturday dinner. They are a special precook kind.
Tomorrow: indoor playground with an Aunt
Saturday: family dinner
Sunday: church
Monday: having dad over for an "easy" Thanksgiving dinner as mom is away. We will have leftover potatoes and BBQ chicken.
I hope to bake a GF pumpkin pie in there somewhere!"There are more important things--friendship and bravery...."

It's almost Friday!! My lucky kid has a PA day tomorrow so a 4 day weekend for him. Tonight I plan to clean the fridge out. Kitchen is spotless and I hope to keep it that way. Have leftovers to use up so will use up for dinner. Off to make my Cream of wheat and banana for breakfast.

-well hubby and I went to see my brother -took him a mcdonalds coffee-some grapes and a mandarin orange
-he is still a little weak -he was sitting up with one tube left in him -they made him walk a short distance -I asked nurse he may be coming home tue or wed maybe depending
-then stopped at my sister-in-law's she hasn't been up to see her hubby (my brother) since he went in for surgery -she has irritable bowel and a croupy dry cough
-so I gave her Tylenol cold and flu 9 pills ,fisherman losanges ,probiotics pills 12 I had left and a few magazines -I think she worked herself up so much into a big knot-as she was holding her stomach as I dropped these off -and that my friends is why we stock up on meds cause we have them when we need them
-hung a load out on the line this morning

next time you are in my neck of the woods let me know I would love to meet a fellow sc member. Yes that's the store, they're pretty rude in my opinion, I don't shop there often at all for that very reason plus I find them expensive for everyday things.
I hope you post of picture of your kitchen when you are all done, It sounds beautiful.2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

Yesterday was roast pork in crockpot, homemade gravy, mashed potatoes and baby carrots....slurp.
I have another roast in the crockpot today for dh to take with him to the moose camp, he will be gone for another 16 days.
Eldest is going up for a week with dh, FIL and the other 2 paying hunters.
My mom was supposed to spend the weekend with ds2 and I but called last night and told Logan she is not coming. He was really looking forward to it BUT my parents do this sort of thing all the time SO sadly my kids are used to it....sigh
Tonight is leftovers for the adults and chicken burgers for the kiddos.
Ds2 started his counselling last night and we decided to run into WM for 2 pairs of pants for son, Halloween costume and winter gloves while they have them in stock. Our walmart always runs out of gloves and doesn't restock by mid-November which makes no sense to me so decided to get some while available.
I need to get dh to show me how to take the door knobs off and re-assemble before he leaves tomorrow (fingers crossed) he will be co-operative (haha).
I asked the cashier at independent grocers about the points and pc mc / pc points and she said that you get 10 points if you bring your own bags AND no mention of buying grocery bags SO I will ask the next time at the customer service desk.
Wishing everyone a great afternoon.2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

If anyone else is similarly surprised at how preciously priced (second to hazelnuts in the $33 range) dried apricots are, today is the last day that Fortino's has 20% off loose bulk items. Apricots are $26.43/kg less the 20% discount. Yesterday, I checked a Metro store-a 250g tub was listed for $5.99. Wowsers...
I need about 100-115g of the dried fruit to add to the second head of cauliflower and remaining olives when I roast them on the weekend (without any chicken this time). Need to put the cubed pears that I seasoned with nutmeg and lemon juice into loaf or coffee cake.
Purchased reflective ribbon-red for my coat cuffs and side hem areas and white for a key lanyard-at Fabricland, as the items are 50% off this month. Stitched the ribbons on today so am ready for drivers who use high-beams on dark roads or cyclists wanting a piece of me on the sidewalks after sunset.
@SassyAshley -way to go, crochet weekend last time! Give yourself many good things this weekend as you will have guests!
@jasperandchar - you are MacGyver with all your ways to save on food and home repair! Youtube could come in handy with door knob videos-never know!
@Angela273 -claim the weekend as your time to rest in bed outside of mealtimes until the cold eases up on you.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Wowsers, you are all so busy - I am not, this cold just has me floored. It seems an effort just to hold my head up!
Ciel, about dried fruit - since I use just small amounts, I buy the little packages from SDM (forget what house brand they are) which are just a few dollars, and they are just fine to use for baking.
We're getting the windshield replaced on the van tomorrow - son gets it through his company, so that means a very good discount for us. It's an old van, but the cracks and dings on the windshield just got unsafe, so this is a must.
So my husband left the van at the shop so they can do it first thing in the morning, and he just came home in our son's old Caddy that he's fixing - that must have been a fun drive, being back in a boat... Son also has a Mustang that he will drive.
Ok, lol, he said it was an interesting drive home...
Have a nice evening, everyone!

Today I drove DD to band practice at 7 a.m. and handed out some of the uniforms. After that I headed out to the mountains to enjoy the fall colours and scenery-so pretty this time of year. Hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving.

Whew! caught up with this week's posts!
I was hoping that my friend from Cambridge could join us for Thanksgiving but she called today to say he sister was having all the family there. We MIGHT have Dh's sister and her beau and will have my brother so it'll be small but nice. Probably Monday.
I am going with my brother to a Thanksgiving dinner at an association he belongs to tomorrow. It's always nice. Then I will VOTE since we will not be here on election day.
Doggie has to go back to the vet tomorrow to see if he can be "Cone-free" but as soon as I take his cone off, he wants to lick at the site where he pulled a stitch out. I have to take his cone off when he eats and tonight he "moaned" at me and rolled over on his back - something he rarely does unless he REALLY wants something. I took his cone off and he fell asleep for quite a while. But now he has awakened, so I'll have to put it back on as I really need to get to bed. I didn't realize it was so late.
I have been struggling to get used to my new CPAP breathing machine. I couldn't get comfortable last night and as a result had a non-restful sleep. I kept dreaming that the dog had a tick attached to him and half-waking up! "Mauled" as my father would say!
I hope all of you with colds will get better soon. Wishing everyone a frugal and happy Friday!

up early will head out when hubby gets in at 9.10 as I need to get some food for thanksgiving and my cupboards are a bit bare
-crochetlady you are so busy making towels -good for you extra money -I am going to start saving my checkout51 and snapsaves not for a vacumm as I stated that can wait til it breaks -hubby and I may not have coverage on prescriptions soon -like the next few days -we are too young to get anything cheaper either -so will use that money along with my small kijiji sales to pay for prescriptions -our prescriptions come to 500.00 a year plus dental you throw in there don't even know what that will cost yet -so I am glad we went down to one car -see you never know what will come around the corner in life and throw a curve ball at you
-and the one car is really working out -infact I am sure I am saving money cause I am not randomly driving my car and picking things up -cause I do love shopping as you ladies must know (just not clothing shopping)
