^ Further to this,
Three lakes in northern Saskatchewan have been named after soldiers from the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery and Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry who died in Afghanistan. The geomemorial recognizes the sacrifices of individuals who were born or spent time in Saskatchewan and who gave their lives in service.
Anderson Lake recognizes Cpl. Jordan Anderson, who was killed by an improvised explosive device while he was on patrol in the Panjwaii district in July 2007.
Saskatchewan Branches Use Geography To Honour War Dead
About 4,000 locations across Saskatchewan bear the names of individuals who have been recognized since the program began in 1947.
I couldn't find an updated list, this is as of 2003 - names, along with the geographic features

It is the VETERAN , not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.
It is the VETERAN , not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the VETERAN , not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the VETERAN , not the campus organizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.
It is the VETERAN , not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.
It is the VETERAN , not the politician,
Who has given us the right to vote.
It is the VETERAN ,
who salutes the Flag,
It is the VETERAN ,
who serves under the Flag,
ETERNAL REST GRANT UNTO THEM, O LORD, AND LET PERPETUAL LIGHT SHINE UPON THEM.
God Bless them all!!!

Those of you who have children or grandchildren, make sure they know the real story of Winnie the Pooh.
The true tale of Winnie the Pooh, an unlikely First World War legacy
To the Canadian writer Lindsay Mattick, Winnie the Pooh is like family... in a way.
Her great-grandfather Harry Colebourn was the First World War soldier who first came to love a little bear cub he called Winnie, after his hometown of Winnipeg.
During World War I in 1914, a veterinarian discovered a bear tied up on the platform of a train station in Ontario. Appealing to his nature and his love of animals, the vet paid $20 to adopt the bear.
He kept her with him through his training in Canada, then overseas - but once he had to go to France, it would be too dangerous for her so he took her to the London Zoo.
It was during this time that the bear was discovered by a little boy called Christopher Robin Milne, who used to visit the London Zoo regularly.
Christopher named one of his teddy bears Winnie and his father, A.A. Milne, based all of the characters of a new storybook on his son's toys.
When Harry Colebourn's great-granddaughter was pregnant a few years ago, she decided it was time to write a children's book explaining the story. (She now has a three year old son named Cole, a namesake.)
Lindsay Mattick has written a new book titled, "Finding Winnie: The True Story of the World's Most Famous Bear".
Great interview with her here, from CBC radio's The Current

Just got home from the local service and the most amazing thing happened......immediately after the two minutes of silence an eagle did a full circle directly above and then flew away towards the north. I believe it was all of those we have lost paying us a visit. It was quite incredible.
