Maybe a dumb question, but can you go through the drive through and order 2 of them? Or does it have to be in store and 1 per customer? What if there's only 1 person in the car? Sometimes my boyfriend stops for coffee for us on his way home (usually at timmys though) and I told him this might be an option instead.

Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

Not a dumb question. Logic suggests, that it's no skin off their back to pour you 2 cups instead of one. But I can appreciate why they might not.
I've been granted the extra coffee on my requests in the past... but I've also been denied it. Your results will vary with whomever is working (and what they've been told). I think they're instructed to use their best discretion.
On the one hand, they don't want people piling up on the free coffees taking unfair advantage... on the other hand, they dont want to piss people off by denying otherwise reasonable requests (e.g. I'd like one for my spouse/co-worker, etc).
I also think the time of day can be a factor. If it's rush-time for coffee like first thing in the morning, or typical 10am coffee break time... they MIGHT deny you simply based on supply. They don't want to run out for the lines of people expecting their fair share because they gave out multiple cups to some. But during a slower time of day, it might not be such an issue.Last edited by bhlombardy; Sat, Nov 21st, 2015 at 06:58 AM.

Thank you for your kind words, bhlombardy, and for taking the time to respond to my question. I can absolutely see both sides of this, and I do imagine it may depend on those factors as well. I suppose we'll find out soon! Luckily, we have a McDonald's just a couple blocks from home (a timmys, too - goodness, I love where I live! ) which is why most days we stop for coffee either as we're going out, or as we're coming home.. But at least if we are rejected a second, it's not like we went far out of our way! Hope everyone's having a fantastic weekend!!

That is a just a scripted rule and most cashiers aren't even aware of the limitations. I got 2 cups at the same place yesterday...took 1 to my car and then went back in

Is the coffee "lighter" than usual or is it just me?
