Possibly many of you are already aware of this, but there's a new program ( in ONTARIO) to give low-income families a break on their Electricity.
Also, if you are disabled and us equipment that require electricity, maybe even more.

Thanks for posting, I find it and I'm sure other do as well that they meet the income but not the absurd # of people that must live in the home.
Seniors won't be benefiting neither will many of the working poor because of the amount of people that must live in the home while still mainting a household income stated.

I have done a few of these applications (volunteer) and the processing time is 6-8 weeks...get on this ASAP because you have to apply NOW to get the rebate as soon as people are eligible in January 2016.
Hydro really peeves me off. The credit rates listed in the chart are piddly.
We are a very moderate, single income family. I stay home which leaves me lots of time to do chores during the day, right? wrong!
We are penalized with double the rates for hydro during the day. Now laundry and dishes wait til after 7pm. With high efficiency machines that take extra time, mommy is up late doing chores which should have been done during the day, and certainly not in the evening when it is family time.
The TOU hydro scheme is an assault on single income families IMO. The credits they are offering do nothing to make up for it.

agreed!! ^^^ these tou rates are also an assault on retired folks too. No one wants to be doing chores in the wee hours but I feel I have to now just to get some savings to offset all the other cost of living increases out there.
I am a miser when it comes to hydro, but it doesn't seem to matter. The "Delivery" charge is twice as much as what I use anyways. . . :mad:
and don't we all love the " debt retirement charge" ? I changed all my Xmas lights to LED strings a few years back, hoping that helps some over Xmas.Quote:

and BC Hydro doesn't have TOU. Makes me envious when I'm back home and reminded of that lol.

I am sorry but TOU is nothing but a money grab, how can you possibly not use Hydro between 5 pm & 7 pm from November to May.
Not to mention the insane increase they just asked for which will double more like triple the average bill all thanks to some report saying Ontarian do not care about TOU and that energy consumption has not dropped the way they hoped it would so the solution charge us more to make people care. FYI we do care but even as a single 31 year old female I have no choice but to do things on High Peak because of my work schedule.
Notice the rates are high when people are cooking dinner? It is a shame that we should be penalized.
The residential accounts are targeted, but it is the commercial sector that is the biggest drain on the grid.
And then you hear stories of surplus energy being dumped. Bah!
Exactly even when I do most of our cooking for the week on the weekend (off peak) it still has to be heated up during High Peak. Funny do not think my bosses will care if I go hey gotta leave early so I can get dinner on the table before High Peak kicks in. Or you have to wait until after 7 and I cannot eat dinner that late as I am in bed by 9 to do it all over the next day.
