New program/collection days for the garbage/recycling/green bins:
Garbage will be picked up one week and recycling picked up the next, while organics will be picked up every week.
Under this new cart-based collection system, many residents will have a new collection day in January and will need to check which cart they put out first for collection. VisitThis thread is currently associated with: N/ALast edited by Ciel; Mon, Jan 4th, 2016 at 02:38 PM.

Squirrels are making a mess of the new carts!
http://www.mississauga.com/news-stor...ction-program/
Maybe squirrels think the cost of time to find their food has gone up. Not unlike people who are finding the cost of food has gone up...2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

Peel Region has jurisdiction over waste collection. That is making some mess of Brampton's property standards bylaw due to the new cart system-some carts are being stored in spots against Brampton's bylaw.
On Jan. 4, Peel rolled out its new twice-monthly collection program in Brampton, Mississauga and Caledon and has so far been met with some minor hiccups, including broken down trucks and damaged bins.
Turns out, there are hang-ups at the lower-tier level that also need some serious attention.
The City has not issued any property standards orders related to the storage of new waste bins, according to staff.
However, proper storage has become an issue of concern for some councillors.
“A lot of folks, particularly this time of year, are keeping them closer to the front of the house where the bylaw doesn’t permit them,” said regional councillor Elaine Moore at Corporate Services Committee.
Moore was one of several regional councillors to volunteer their ward (Wards 1 and 5) for a pilot project in 2012 that tested out the biweekly garbage system. Some 6,000 homes across Peel took part in the pilot.
Moore told committee “people are trying to figure out where to store the bins” and indicated in some cases the carts are too large (a large cart is 360litres/95 gal) for residents to store properly in their garage or side yard.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

You have curbside battery recycling in Peel Region? http://www.mississauga.com/blogs/pos...ycling-launch/
Lucky. Hamiltonians have to find a municipal site, a store or community event to recycle their batteries if a car trip to the hazardous waste drop-off is not possible.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.
