Very beautiful. . . but I'm afraid the temperature is a bit of a deterrent for me.

I went a few years ago at the beginning of September and it was HANDS DOWN my favourite trip I've ever taken. We rented a car and drove around the island. The summer June-August can actually be quite warm, and in mid-September we were only wearing light fleece jackets for most days (although we lucked out weather wise the 10 days we were there).

The scenery was unreal and unlike anything I had seen before - quite the adventurous trip…we did a tonne of hiking, even some using crampons across the base of a glacier. One day we hiked a couple of hours up a mountain and swam in a geothermal river…not another living soul in sight!

Now that we have young kiddies our travel days are on hold, but if anyone EVER has the chance to go, I recommend it wholeheartedly!!!! It's my dream to bring the boys back when they get a little older!!!
