^^^ ha ha ^^ " don't you guys have cows? "
Here I thought it was just WM, I saw the $4.27 price and hrmphed out thinking " I'll get it cheaper somewhere else "
Surprise!! Everyone else jacked their price up as well.
We sure have been spoiled with the $3.97 and sometimes even cheaper bags, even our Mac's Milk corner store was always under $4.00
Glad we no longer buy much milk, only my 1 son still guzzles it.

^ similar here, walkonby - once our son-the-milk-guzzler moved out, we sure buy it less.
Husband uses it for coffee, and then just whatever small amounts I use for baking or cooking - so a 4L will often go off before it's used up. However, it makes no sense to buy a 2L and pay almost the same price.

well, on the bright side, this will help to hit those $ breakpoints for bonus points coupons...I know I get slightly irritated when I'm at like 9.97 of a "spend $10" coupon.

This is an old news article from October 2014 but it is informative.

Except the Northern Territories where transport costs are higher, I don't see any reason why milk should be priced so different coast to coast. Not just prices but sizes , containers are different too !
too much greed, regulations, red tape, bureaucracy, nepotism, legacy issues which are systemic both from the gov. And dairy farmer associations and companies and corporations.
I don't think the poor dairy farmer ( not the bad guy ) or the consumers are to be blamed for it, its mostly the gov, corporations and the dairy associations who are making the big bucks at the expense of consumers and even the individual dairy farmer.

I recall that there is something to do with milk quotas-at least in Ontario, farmers are only getting paid for liquid milk within their alloted quotas.
About two weeks ago, there was a job ad for a milk rep that would have to visit farms daily. http://www.canwestdhi.com/employment.htm2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

It was the same price at SDM as everywhere else for me - $3.97. I didn't see it cheaper at SDM than anywhere else. But maybe it was different in other areas?
Noticed at No Frills a week ago today that it was up to $4.27.
It's still $3.97 at Rexall in the flyer - not sure if they will raise their price or not.Last edited by mollyh; Tue, Feb 16th, 2016 at 02:50 PM.

Valu-Mart has the 3L bag of Tru-taste (I think that's what it is called) on for $3.99. Use $1 off coupon found on Loblaws coupon board = $1 a Litre.

I have even heard of farmers throwing milk down the drain ! When they exceed the quota and there is an oversupply.
They would rather throw it away than sell it for cheap to consumers. That's criminal, with so much poverty and hunger going around.
maybe the excess milk can be given to some food bank or charity for free, instead of throwing it away

If you are buying the bags then just freeze the bags and take them out one at a time when you are about 1/2 done the last bag. In the fridge it will defrost slowly. Sometimes the cream will stick to the side of the bag a bit but it tastes the same as when fresh.
Give it a try
Milk had stayed the same for a long while so I was not surprised to see it go up since so many other products have gone up already.
