Anyone notice an increase of price of milk at SDM? They have always sold it for less than any other store. What gives?

Sorry for posting this on the SDM thread but I noticed Walmart increased their price of milk as well....from $3.97 to $4.27. Perhaps milk is going up at all stores??

From what I was told by the Dairy Manager in No Frills is that February is the annual Dairy increase, they are only allowed to increase once a year and once Milk goes up you will see other Dairy products go up. Our conversation was in January and he said that we would for sure see an increase this year and there was nothing stores could do but wait and see what the new price would be.

I heard milk was going up at least 0.04$/litre. The price of milk went up everywhere around here but shoppers still has the best price.

Not in ON..its a very recent increase.

The price increase has happened in ON only in the last 3-4 days.

Almost everyone has increased it by 30 cents. 4 L bags have gone up from around $ 3.97/3.29 to $ 4.27/4.29 at WM, SDM, Freshco, Sobeys, Rexall etc.

Yup its gone up everywhere in the last 3-4 days by 30 cents. The Supply Management or dairy farmers of ON probably has a lot to do with it.

most grocery stores make next to nothing on basic milk. Maybe they make something on the premium milk.

Its usually a loss leader for them or they just about break even on it. Its just to get people in and create traffic for the store, hoping that they buy something else, when they come in to buy milk.

In Ontario, the price was raised just this week. Our increase was about 30 cents. Not sure where you live, but your increase is A LOT more.

I guess more trips to US to buy their cheap hormone filled milk and other dairy products and cheap gas and booze, might be in order for border towns

Stop whining and come buy Milk in NB. 4l for 7.19
But while I'm whining butter is so expensive, even the store brand is 5.19 a pound. I had to make puff pastry out of lard today. We'll see how that turns out.
